hey lichris. how about an update on the NPSS? Worth wild buy?

My new NPSS came in yesterday… However, I started the day with my tenant telling me a pipe burst in the apartment. FLOOD! Then my wife was sick…. then she fell asleep when UPS came, and they only delivered the gun and not the 2000 .22 pellets I ordered. So, I came home from work, continued to deal with the flood, bought some soup for the wife, and some POS daisy pellets from Walmart. When all the grown up stuff was done, I opened the box!

Initial thoughts:
The gun is fairly heavy. I didn’t realize it until I picked up my Big Cat. It’s solid. Not in a bad way though. The included scope is nice. I have a few other Centerpoint scopes. If not included, I probably would have bought this one. The texture is unique – It’s almost rubberized in some areas. The carbon fiber is a little cheesy… I would have stuck to matte black.

I mounted the scope, and then cleaned it out. I ran some swabs with Goo Gone down the barrel and they came out filthy. It took about 10 swabs and all was good. There was a little extra oil at the breach seal, but not horrible.

So it came to fire the thing…

Within 10 shots, I had it pretty much sighted in. I can’t comment on the accuracy yet because it’s still being broken in and the pellets I’m using are just about the worst pellets I’ve ever seen. However, from about 10 yards, the groups aren’t horrible.

What everyone wants to know: Noise and Recoil!
I found the recoil to be similar to my big Cat, but different. It seemed shorter… I wouldn’t call it horrible but it is definately more then my wifes Lady Recon! There is absolutely no thwang – it shoots, recoils, and its done. I didn’t find it to be too hold sensitive… if anything, less then the big cat. It is definately quiter then my big cat. I had a friend shoot it while I was about 5 yards from the barrel, and it was substantially quieter. It was so quiet in fact, I continued to shoot about 100 shots last night. I had the gun out on my deck plinking just to get some shots through it… I rarely take the big cat outside. I usually have to shoot from the door to the target I have set up (we live on a 1/2 acre in a typical Long Island suburban neighborhood).

I don’t have a chrony, but the time from shot to impact sounds to be a little longer then the big cat, but less then my wifes lady recon. So figure somewhere greated then 500 fps but less then 900. Scietific, I know!

Overall – I like it and will keep it. I can’t wait to get the good pellets and see what this bad boy will do once broken in!

absolutely… I just need to get it!

Hey lichris post a review when you get a chance on it.

That gun is even tempting me.

If it is of good quality it would be nice to have one just for kicks.

I will tomorrow! I ordered from PA and it is due to arrive tomorrow… I’m kind of excited…
