Crossman Pellets Which are better
I have been shooting Crossman Premier 14.3 through my TSS. Question I have, is there a difference between the ones in the box (625) or the ones in the tin (500) The ones in the box cost $23 bucks and the tins are about $8-9. Am I missing something here? Its definitely not because of packaging.
Which JSB does every one Rave about, they make so many different kinds and I have even seen them packaged under a different brand name, Cometa?? I am sure someone knows something. Thanks

I am playing with the crosman pellets right now trying to see if i can sort the hp, to get them to be as consistent as the brown box pellets , but i haven’t come to a conclusion yet. All i do know is the hollow point pellet is not bad for a pllinking pellet out of the box, but you will have flyers that open up your groups by 1/2” to 3/4” if you dont sort.
But out of the box the brown box pellets are considerably more consistent than the hollow point crosman or the ultra magnum.
Now if you sort the ultra mags and the hollow point pellets they are right there with the brown box , but i still dont know if they are as good . I think that the brown box pellets with sorting will beat the other crosman pellets with sorting.
JSB pellets are more uniform than the crosman pellets hands down, but they can still use some sorting for the ultimate in accuracy effort.
I use more crosman hollow points more than any thing else, they are cheap and easy to get.
But when the chips are down i will reach for the Jsb’s all weights shoot great but they prefer different velocities for peak accuracy.
+3 for JSB’s. I use the 14 grainers in my benji 392 and they are damn accurate.
With any of the JSBs you can’t go wrong. The 15.9 gr EXACTS are the most popular and have been around the longest. The 18.1 gr JUMBOs are sorta the “NEW” kid on the block but seem to be the same or even better than the exacts in some guns. The 13 and 14 grainers are good to but seem to be the least popular according ONLY TO WHAT I”VE read. But they are all great damned pellets….PERIOD.
JSB’s are the best to me in all guns.
And yeah, stick with the BOX version of the CP’s. The TIN pellets are cheaper and sold at WALMART for a reason
The paper box pellets are stamped with the same die for uniformity. The tin container pellets are mass produced using several dies at the same time for high volume.
Informed shooters will know which dies are the best for accuracy in their guns and will search out that die, sellers will advertise which die it was stamped with.
As you have seen, some brown box pellets are very expensive, compared to the Walmart tin boxes.

About JSB / COMETA: JSB is the manufacturer and the Cometa is the Spanish importer, but the produtc is JSB. I have both brands and it’s the same pellets.
About CROSSMAN METAL TIN/PAPER TIN: some friends told that the pellets of the paper tin was a little bit better than the metal pin, reason of the price. They test both pellets and the paper tin’s pellets love the center of the target, shoot by shoot!.

guess i am just lucky but the Crossman domes( the tin version) and hollowpoints both shoot as well in my Benji NP XL, TALON SS, and Daystate Airwolf as JSB 18.1 jumbos, although they do seem to have a few more fliers. however, that may be due to my shooting, as the fliers occur more often in the inherently more inaccurate rifles. since 75-80% of my shots are at critters/birds, i really don’t care if i miss an occasional shot. there will be another target along soon enough. bottom line- Crossman domes ( and i can’t tell a difference in the boxed vs. tinned version) and hollowpoints are cheap and more than suitable for field purposes. if they made them in a heavier version, that’s all i would shoot.
