Q:

custom 13xx build

Hello all, I’m not sure if “13xx” would be appropriate, considering the amount of changes in my build. I tend to build my Crosman/Benjamin rifles, carbines and pistols from parts, instead of starting with a complete rifle or pistol. But, I digress- here’s the list for the .177 build:

13xx flat top valve
custom 2100 adjustable flat top piston
2100 pump arm
custom main tube
BNM rear cocking breech w/a BAM 50 cocking knob
BNM shroud
BNM 13xx barrel band
2260/Disco trigger w/brass trigger and 2 screw mod
13xx RVA
custom stock

My original intent was to build a shrouded “clone” of a Daystate sportsman II rifle, which is a side-lever pump rifle. But, thinking about it some, I’ve decided to just build it as a standard pumper. No need to complicate the build any more than I’ve already done!! ;D I’m also itching to try it out, and I don’t want to wait anymore!
I’m still waiting on the BNM breech, and I haven’t ordered the barrel just yet either. Nothing special about it, just a standard crosman .177 barrel that’s been cut to length and re-crowned. I just don’t know what length to go with yet. I also haven’t ordered the BNM shroud yet, because of the barrel length and I haven’t decided on how many baffles I want.
I wanted to do something a little different with the trigger, because with the pumpers I’ve seen, most have the 22xx pistol grip, or a Mrod trigger group. I don’t see anything wrong with the Disco/2260 trigger after getting the brass trigger, and doing the 2 screw mod to it. It’s cheap, and feels pretty darn good! It’s more than adequate for the field. I also didn’t want to be stuck having a long pistol, or using a crosman plastic stock. Again, I just want to be different is all.
I’m hoping, once I decide on a stock, that Norm might be able to help out (for a fee of course! 😉 ) and inlet the stock for this build. I’ve narrowed the list down to a Microfit Benchmark stock, or a Boyds rimfire hunter. I’m really leaning towards the Boyds stock because it’s cheaper than the Microfit.
The only problem, as of now, that I can see is the RVA. 1) It’s a 13xx tube, so not too many choices. 2) Because of the BAM 50 bolt knob, I have to be wary of the length of the RVA. But it shouldn’t be too big of a concern.

Sorry for the long-winded post, I just felt the need to share my build with you guys! Here’s a pic of the custom adjustable flat-top piston:

I got my LW barrel back from the machinist, I also have my barrel band/endcap. I’m waiting on my main tube so that I can determine the length of my shroud. The parts are getting lonely sitting in a box, not being used…

EDIT: I also need to prep and paint w/Duracoat aerosol… Damn it, and a stock too!! Anybody have an old (not too beat up) 2260 or Disco stock laying around? 😆

As far as the pump tube length being long… nah. This will end up being a carbine. But my .20 (maybe a .22) cal build will be full rifle sized. I’m basing it off of a crosman 1400 pump lever, instead of a 2100. Should be a sweet shooter!!

Well, i”ve finally gathered most of the pieces for my build.. all I’m waiting on is my LW barrel, make a new main tube, and decide how long the shroud will be.

It’s just an upgraded, adjustable flat-top piston for a 2100 rifle. A Huntsman is a PCP. I want a pump rifle. There’s a guy on the GTA working on a ACP rifle now. a bit over $1k for one. It’s modular, and even has .25 and .30 barrels available. I wanted a simple, shrouded pump rifle (carbine?) to tote around, shooting 10+ fpe. I may tackle a shrouded ACP in the future though.

That’s one LONG ass pump. Sounds like a good build, I personally would have tried for the Daystate Huntsman, as a custom pumper with a sidearm WOULD BE AWESOME!!! but that’s just me…
