Custom Stock Inletted by Synopsys
Wasnt sure if to put this under Mods/Machinists or here… so I chose here.
I’d gotten this stock some years back at Roanoke and had wanted to use it for a QB project, but the stock was not inletted for anything. Figured one day I’d try my hand at inletting it, but that day never came about. Stock was a cheapie for $15 and sized just perfect for a QB carbine.
Had contacted Synopsys some time back after reading about him inletting one and asked if he’d be interested in it. He agreed and we agreed on a price… which was dirt cheap. I had zero expectations getting it back for a couple reasons… 1. it’s a cheap project.. and 2. Syn charged so little to do the work. As he sent updates it was apparent that my expectations would be far exceeded as the man is a true perfectionist. Got the gun back and I swear, it could have been no better done by a professional gunstock maker. Superb work.
Yes, it’s just a cheapie QB Carbine with no mods sitting in a $15 stock, but I’m stoked about it. Really does look nice, I think! Fitted it with a the little 4x scope that came on my CZ200 and it just fits nicely.

Rob, thanks for clearing things up. Thought it looked a bit small. Still learning some of the abbreviations.

Bogman… thinking you may have misunderstood. This is a QB as in the Chinese gun not a Quackenbush.
The DAQ’s are certainly fine craftsmanship. Simple and elegant. I’m fortunate enough to have a 308 and a 50 cal DAQ.
This particular gun is a QB 78 Carbine in .22…

A tough but fun project. Those prefinished and preshaped stocks are a bitch to work on, let alone clamp in the vise without denting the wood…
But it all worked out in the end and fit like a glove with almost no over cutting like the stock inlet job.
I wish I could have done it a bit quicker but other than that it was a success for being my very first preformed and finished inlet job. I really like doing the design and shaping, so it was different to do this one as it was strictly inlet milling and some dremel work. Learned a lot and didn’t fuck it up like I could have. 😆
Overall I feel honored to have an item I worked on in the infamous rob3dr collection. 😉 The airgun hall of fame so to speak!
Looking forward to taking on projects similar to this in the future if the opportunity presents itself! 😀

Nice job synopsys. In fact, it turned out so nice… Be careful what you ask for! You may very well be buried in rifle stocks at some point. Excellent job and that rifle looks SWEET!
