CZub Barrel Ammo Preference ?
A big Thank You to Randy of R&L Air for my replacement barrel from the Taipan manufacturer. I haven’t had any time to spend testing different pellet weights. I’m wondering what other with this same replacement “CZub” barrel from Dimitri have found groups best in the 25-50 yard range ? JSB 15.9s or 18.1s ? Thanks :fishinghole:

Clint sounds good, glad to hear you’ve received the spec barrel from Randy. Mine has been getting fed JSB 15.9s as well, next I’m going to test the Air Arms version Diabolo Fields 15.9s.
I got me replacement barrel from R&L last week. Initial testing with JSB 15.9’s show a big improvement over the “made in Germany” barrel. I’m assuming it is a Czub barrel? It is choked. New barrel groups more like a high end airgun now and the flyers are gone. I’ve old shot it at 25 yards so far.

well… no CZub replacement barrel here. Just the CZ_rep barrel. No need in me posting 25 yard groups if I can’t show a 50 yard group. I’m just hoping the guys with the CZub barrels post some sub-MOA groups at 50 yards. (and show me what I’m mkissing out on! :biggrinn: )

So now everyone has gotten their replacement CZub barrels thanks to Jamie, Randy and Tony, but no one is posting how well their Shorty is shooting now ? I hope everyone is out shooting and that’s why there has been no posts ? :fishinghole:
Good point RS, The barrel manufacturer is important and there are several versions of the Short barrel out there. For instance, I believe the barrel in my gun is the CZrep, but I have no real proof of that (Petr isn’t talking) since the barrel is unmarked. Therefore if I say the barrel likes the AA 5.52 head diameter as compared to the JSB 5.52 head, that information is relevant only to my gun, and of no use to anyone else. So I could\should not contribute to the data base except maybe with the qualifier of “barrel unknown”? It might make for a busy-looking spreadsheet. So I’ll remove my gun from consideration. Just my 2 cents.

Darryl all barrels would be great, but some have a “CZrep” version and don’t even know it. So we need to make sure we are compairing apples to apples. At last count there are at least four different manufacture’s barrels for the Shorty, Korean, Taiwanese, “CZrep” and “CZub”.
I think an ammo thread is a good idea RS. From barrel to barrel, ymmv, but it’s worth a look to see the input from others. Some have already shared their results elsewhere on the Talon. One thread (per gun type) can only help. I think.

Greg and Darryl Thanks, this is what I’m looking for. It would be great to have an ammo thread with results of different ammos with targets and or group sizing at yardage. Guys please keep the results coming with what ammo at what speed ! Thanks :15:

Mines seems to like both depending on the lot batch I pick, switched lots so now it’s shooting the 16g more tightly then the 18g @ 50 yards.

Everyone knows the gun I got its got the Listone barrel, Still not took it out to 100 yards yet, But my 38 and 48 yard shots have been great.
I have been shooting the 16gr polymags , With no flyers , My 22 Cricket has been sitting idle since I got this little Mutant,
Got to start to rotate the guns now , One week for each gun,
Got a couple of boxes of 25 Polymags I have never tried in the 25 Cricket , May have to see what see will do.
The 22 Mutant with polymags is sick sounding on sparrows , POP. LOL.
I took a lucky shot on a smart Grackle that hide behind the bird feeder and would just pop his head up and look around, I shot him in the head at 38 yards with the mutant , The head was gone, No beak, no eyes it was just gone, He painted the back side of my feeder red,,,,
You guys would ban me if I had a camera to show some of the sick shots I made, :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:
But still looking at the cameras .
So many toys…..
