I saw a video where the gun seemed to be performing well, but the the guy reviewing the gun wasn’t pleased that the domed pellet didn’t deform/mushroom as much as he expected it to. He had shot a rabbit with a pass through result, (gee go figure.) It didn’t look like a fair and realistic evaluation. The .303 government round is a loopy round in the firearms world. That’s just what a .303 170 grain bullet is going to do. In the airgun world I would expect the same from a diabolo pellet of .303 diameter. I would also expect that .303 pellet to do great damage whether it deformed or not. This conversation begs the question of why .303 diameter was chosen for an airgun bore diameter? Was it for marketing to capitalize on the reputation of the .303 Enfield round? (If so that’s a poor reason and this caliber might be short lived.) Or, was it developed because the gun/pellet combination has great potential? Remember, airgun manufacturers are jumping on the big bore band wagon. Daystate does produce great airguns, that’s for sure. However, $3000 for the Wolverine? Also, 9 1/2 pounds without a scope? That’s what a .30-06 M-1 Garand weighs! …so that’s 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 pounds with a scope and rings? It’s also 2″ longer than an M-1. We are supposed to take that for a stroll through the woods? It is beautiful and being produced by Daystate gives a guy the sense of security that it will perform as advertised.

Wetting our pants? I don’t think so. We Yanks still have our powder burners from .22lr to .50BMG. There are just too many great air rifles that produce plenty of power in many calibers that are a much better deal and don’t weigh so much.

I will believe the review that Tofaz does. 😉
