Dedicated night use firearm.
I’m just thinking out loud.
It seems to me the perfect setup for night use would be a semi-auto carbine chambered in a subsonic round that could be suppressed fairly efficiently. (with a tax stamp of course)
The Beretta CX4 in .45 is the first thing that comes to mind. Plenty of room for rails for night vision scope, flashlights or lasers if deemed necessary… and enough knock down for even midnight hog hunting in Texas given the ranges limited by the use of NV.
Any more carbines fit that bill well?

I’m not much of a pistol guy. Like Butcher claims with the carbine it’s easier to squeeze the potential from whats there. I have shot the Hi-Point pistols and really do not care for them.
I never shot a .300 Whisper but that would be an ideal cartridge in a carbine. I bet there is an AR upper chambered for it? Ammo is probably expensive too, no?
in .45 you bet. .45Colt would be nice.
Why not a pistol you ask? Seems like there’s a lot more performance to be gained out of a little more size, and the longer barrel. I would think the carbine platform would be more accurate, and also have a bit of a range advantage over the pistol. Makes for the better go-to night-hunting gun.

u can get a hipoint in 45 for like 2-300 thread the bbl and put a leagal silencer on it
Yeah, you always got the AR platform to work with. Who knows I may end up with one and a large bore upper. ARs are popular for a reason I guess.
There are quite a few guys who hand load sub sonic .223’s. The twist rate of a standard .223 might not be perfect for it – but were talking sub sonic = short range in most cases and for that use its fine.
Subsonic round requires a specific barrel twist (by the Greenhill formula) to ensure that the bullet remains stable in flight.
An AR-15 lower with any one of the dozens of after market sub sonic handgun round upper’s (You can also get sub sonic .223 frangible rounds…. but they are expensive)
