deep cryogenic treating of barrel and bushings
I have been asked to help a friend that works for a company that is set up to do cryogenic treating. I have been trying to think of some un common uses.
Do you think cryogenic treating an AF barrel and attached bushings would make it more accurate?
Can you think of any advantages or disadvantages of me trying this?
I know an air rifle doesnโt heat up like a powder burner, but it is still stressed right? Who knows it may increase my velocity by a few fps?
I wonder if I can send ยฝ a tin of 500 .22 JSB Exacts pellets through the system, and see if they shoot better than the other half of tin?
Any other parts I should consider letting helping them test?
If I help him, I will get to run some stuff through for free ๐

I am an out of the box thinker. I am always thinking of new things to try.
I think the pellet thing is a stretch, but who knows?
Normally I would not care, nor would I spend my own money to cryo my ss barrel, unless someone else tries it first, then gives me compelling proof that will be money well spent.
But a friend asked for my help.
I don’t care enough about powder burners anymore to do one of my other guns barrels except maybe my 17hmr.
If I do run some stuff through the deep cryo process, I will defiantly do:
My Yojimbo self defense carry knife (made from s30v steel)
The buck knife I use to field dress & skin deer
The fillet knife I use for cleaning fish and birds.
One of my kitchen knives.
Iโm just looking for ideas, because this site (as a collective) has a lot of brain power and out of box thinkers. That is what makes it so great.
I hope others will chime in or PM me with other cyro ideas.
