Q:

Deforming stop on breach rail

I would like to know why AF does not let the breach knob go sideways more to get a better stop for it. The frame is starting to get beat from the knob hitting it. Looks like a good after market part to make out of steel to keep it from banging on the frame stop that is aluminum.
What do other shooters do for this? It is scratching the breach.

Maybe it should have a knob on each side to balance out any vibrations caused by the off center weight of the knob?

That’s the point of taking the bolt handle with you is getting the correct size, with a good fit. Never any problems, it rotated correctly and the tough plastic pipe never stretched.

All the heat shrink tubing I ever used was sticky to prevent slipping, never used heat shrink where I wanted it to rotate like what I wanted the plastic tubing on my bolt handle to do ¿ .

When the shrink tube shanks it gets 3 times it’s thicknes, the problem of letting a tube roll is would it not make it too big? I have the shrink tube on now and it works for now until I get to my shop and find a correct size tubing. I may turn the shoulder down smaller to get a thicker tube that will role.
I do remember a few days ago there was a post about a condor doing the same thing but I could not find it now.

Thanks

Shrink tubing is real thin and no way as tough plastic tubing. It will fit too tight, won’t roll along the frame edge like a bushing and will drag along and wear through and fall of just like the OEM! It needs to roll to prevent wearing of all the parts involved, including the frame and breech/cocking handle? Whether heat shrink or plastic tubing.

Yes, that is what I was going to use but it was shrink tube was my thought.

Uh, search is your best friend here first.

What I did was take the breech knob off and went to the local hardware store and bought some white plastic tubing that fit over the steel shoulder of the breech knob and cut it to same length of the steel shoulder. This made a indestructible bushing that doesn’t bugger up the frame. Black or Clear tubing should work also!

BTW buggering up the frame is cosmetic thing only, file the burrs off and life goes on!

Sam 😆
