Degassing the Edgun
I know that Mam installed a depinger – perhaps others have, as well. As far as I know, they degassed their guns by firing them until they were empty. I was wondering if it’s possible to degass the gun another way – specifically, but pressing the hammer against the valve. You could use the “handle” on the hammer to press it up against that valve.
I was going to try this when I had the action off the rifle to clean it the other day, but decided that I’d better get Ed’s advice first. As far as I can tell, the Marauder degasser tool works this way (by pressing up against the valve).
Anyone degass their Matador in this way? Ed, if you’re out there, what are your thoughts?

After all air is gone, let it sit for 10-15 minutes and drain it again just in case.
Yes, you can do it this way, remove the breech, the you will see the tail of the hammer. Put the gun vertical to the floor (putting something soft under it) and using any metal rod put it against the hammer’s tail, then push it few time (do not keep it long for all air going out) and you degas the reservoir.

I suspected it would be okay, but wanted to run it by you first.
I’m still not sure this gun needs a depinger… The marauder sounded like a tuning fork before I had one installed. But, the “ping” on the Edgun is very very subtle – to me, it’s not worth “fixing”.
Still, I’ll need to degass the rifle for airline travel as well as maintenance. So, it’s good to know it can be done…
