Dial Indicators – Brand Name Comparison
I found this info while trying to figure out what use/value there might be for a dial indicator I have. (No more than $15.00 or so new from what I have found)
Thought it may be of interest to you machinist types.

Interesting. I probably have six or eight dial indicators. Only a couple of them are Starrett; the rest are chinese imports. But I’ve never found any difference in accuracy either, just like this article says, so nowdays I just buy the chinese ones and when they get buggered up, throw them out. At $15 each, not worth it to argue. However, the ones I spend more money on are the smaller ones with the finger that can feel + or – 15 thou… those I spend up to around $75 each on, and I tend to use these much more often than the dial indicators with the big faces.
