Diesel oil on Matador .25 bevel washers

I disassembled my Matador .25 today. When pulling out the regulator and smell diesel oil and saw black oil all over bevel washers in the regulator, it smells bad. also it makes the wall inside of air tube very dirty. I cleaned them all. Is it an accident or is normal?

I forgot to take a pic, only have it after cleaning.

What did you use for washers lubing ?

Had the same experience with one of my R3s. It shot better after the cleaning. The barrel also needed a good cleaning.
