DIY shooting sticks

I’ve been tossing this idea around for quite a while and since its so damn cold outside, I figure it was time to make up my shooting sticks.

Most of you know by now, I have access to carbon tubing where I work. I got a couple UAV wing spars about 6′ long, a single link of chain, a length of parachute cord and some handgrip glue.

I first tied the cord to the link, and then to the first spar. Then I started wrapping and weaving around the chain link and started wrapping around the 2nd spar. I did this to keep the spars apart at the end of the chain link, this allows the rods to flex alongside each other.

Next I spent some time to wrap as tight as possible up and down the spars, careful to only get the handgrip glue only on the underside of the cord. Pain in the butt…

Finished finally, and used some globs of glue to keep the knots from untying themselves. Not pretty, but this is DIY LOL. –thx patrick–

Even though it was cold outside, I had to test them out. As luck would have it, an aquaintance named George was hanging out by my target board.

He has always been a pain-in-the-neck, so I thought it was time to return the favor.

I ranged him at 50 yards, setup the sticks and took aim with the AA410. The 18gr JSB hit him square in the neck, and dropped him like a rock.

The day was a success. The weapon spent the rest of the afternoon glowing with delight with George resting on top.
