Q:

Do you even Slingshot?

Anybody into slingshots? I just found a whole new world of adult slingshots 🙂 The good thing is that it is a whole lot cheaper than PCPs. I have a laser cutting machine coming in hopefully next week and will be making my own. That might be my next backyard sniper!

So where does one get the rubber tubing or straps, the high power stuff?

There are a few places latex-tubing.com is one, Dankung from China is another, but there are others, Green Dub Dub is also very good (look it up).

The secret is NOT the using think strong tubing ( as I did in the beginning) as it weighs to much and walls are to thick. 1842 and 1745 are very popular I use them but 3/16 OD, 1/16 wall I believe or 1/4 OD 1/16 wall … they are two tubes per side.

But there is so much more ….. the elongation factor of 500%+ is very important to speed and is the way you shoot …. you DO NOT pull back and hold like a target shooter, you pre aim pull back and let go almost as you are pulling back and pushing towards the target. The pouch hold is extremely important in getting good flight and accuracy .. I ALWAYS twist and tweak the pouch (can’t get into it here, go to slingshot forums for explanation) Rufus Hussey was one of the best at this and current day “dgui” is one of the finest shooters I have seen … he is/was on you tube a lot.

The name I use here is the same name I used on Slingshot Community and the Slingshot Forum (slingshot Channel is full of CR#@ IMHO)… I have not posted in over a year, but I have many hundreds of post. along with pics of some of my F-16 Slingshots and what I experimented with to get them where they are now.

Very nice wll2506! I agree with you many people are unfamiliar with what a sling shot can do. Kind of like going to Walmart and looking at their collection of air guns compared to a high end one. I recently found the same about slingshots. Very powerful tools and can be very accurate as well. It takes more skill than an airgun for sure. Unlike airguns though, even the high end slingshots are very cheap.

I’m very much into slingshots and have posted many, many times on the sling shot forums.

Here is a pic of one of my mods. I can get incredible speeds and tremendous momentum from them shooting 3/4oz lead at over 175 fps. My usual ammo in the 125-150gr weights is over 225fps for sure. 80gr steel at close to 285 ish

500% + elongation factor, twisting the pouch, small double looped bands for speed, fast release and I could go on and on.

I can assure you if you don’t under stand sling shots, the things you can do are amazing … and I’m not talking wrist rockets .. much better then them for sure !

The slingshot you see is a Daisy F-16 that sells for less than $5.00 at Walmart…. how you modify it is a completely different matter.

The frame is very strong, I wrap it in pararcord, and attach elastic using para cord gypsy tabs that I fasten to the fork ends facing the target (gain an extra inch of power stroke).

This slingshot is very powerful and shoots very flat (if you know how to shoot a slingshot correctly) .. folks have no idea what it is capable of !

It is very, very easy to shoot through 3/4+Inch sheet rock at 30 yards as if it was butter, and leave a hole that is in the shape of your ammo it hits so hard !

Was the stock attached to the slingshot?

I have two wrist rockets and a huge jar of marbles , When the white wings over run my feeders a few shots will scare them off,
I once shot a grackle at 80 yards with a marble, Talk about a luck shot, I went back and glassed it to make sure of the distance I shot the bird at.
The rubbers last me about a year,

Before powderburners and air rifles, bows and slingshots were the hunting tool of choice for me. I’ve got a collection with some very odd designs included. Many are Saunders makes: Falcon, Folding Falcon, Falcon 2, Wrist rocket Pro:

I used steel bearings/balls and sometimes lead shot in the more powerful ones. It’s easy to make a target stop by hanging old carpets to capture the ammo. Marbles work well, too. We also picked up round bits of what looked like crude iron or slag from the railroad tracks. They were mixed in/on the rocks and were rust colored spheres, the size of small marbles, but rough on the surface.

Most models can be accurate, but the techniques to shoot consistently are pretty similar. I’ve looked at the Predators, too. But, hey, Donny, if you design a winner, let me know if they’re for sale! I could use sources for tubing and flat straps. I’m not keen on the hard plastic pouches Saunders uses, too slippery.

Not too bad Secoda for the peek of summer. We only got to 95 once. The rest habe been low 90’s high 80’s which isn’t bad at all. My brother up in New Jerseys said they’ve been having 95+ up there.

That’s no way to treat the next presidential runner up.
