Talon tank. it’s the piece the tophat goes through or screws into. I meant the brass piece has 2 holes or dimples for a tool to screw it in or out.

2 holes, are you working on a condor tank or a talon?

My tophat came from the factory set @ .116 to the top of valve stem(or whatever the brass piece screws into is called with the 2 holes) & the brass piece is recessed .020 below that for a total of .136. It seems as if they raised the tophat to lessen the gap between it & the breech when cocked. Can I raise the brass piece so it’s level?

Once you have it where you want, use a touch of blue Lock tite. They like to move.

Ok, measure where your at now and a good starting point is .070 gap.

I have feeler guages, I was a mchanic years ago and never gave up my tools. this site is awesome!

Slayer do you have a set of feeler guages? You’ll want to measure it and write that down before adjusting it.

Nope.

Just unscrew the set screws and turn to where you want it. Then lightly tighten the set screws and you are done.
