does any one fill thier own dive tanks?
is it worth the time and money? how much do i have to spend to fill my own tank and is it safe? thanks in advance- kingpin

Kingpin; I had a SCUBA compressor back in the day when I was heavy into spearing fish. Compressors are safe but pricey. They also make a hell of a lot of noise if you’re useing a gas engine to run the thing. AKULA
I fill my own tank at work. It is safe. I work for a fire department and we can fill up to 4500 psi with no problem. If you go down and talk to your local firefighters, they may hook you up with filling your tank. Maybe take them some ice cream (round box) or some other treat.

This is what I bought . The 3.5 Ingersoll – Rand . 1,600 .00 . They are surpluse compressors never used with new honda motors . They are not pertty but they sure do work .Marvin

I would go down and actually talk to them, I payed a visit to the local dive shop to fill my 3000 psi scuba, no problems.
I am gonna get a CF 4500 tank, because they said no problem to fill, also told me if I wanted a complete fill I would have to leave it for a day to do a Cold Fill. I guess to get the full 4500 they have to go slow.
I’m not filling a tank kingpin but, from what I have read it seems as though it really depends on the dive shop in your area….They might fill it and might not…If they do fill it they may not fill it to it’s full psi fill pressure….Sounds like a pain to me but a lot of people do it….So I would say that your best bet is to call your local dive or paintball shop and get the real scoop from them….
