Does anyone have a .22 Long model?
Preferably an R3. Haven`t seen one in US.If you do own one how do you like it?May have to ask Tony. Also how would you compare R3 .22 vs. .25 in accuracy?Sometimes wonder how barrel length affects accuracy common thinking longer =better but then see what Kazz does with his short version. Also how can I tell if my 2.5 has the newer or older LW barrel? serial#2296 date 1/21/2011 thanks, mark

I’ve put almost 500 rounds through my (I think) R2.5 long, so I’ll try the Ballistol and see what kind of crud I can drag out of it. It remains consistently accurate up to this point.

Hey Ted, I’ve shot now around 2500 pellets with mine, and no cleaning! Keeps giving consistent groups 🙂
But idd, I also use ballistol and 4 dry patches..
Now, those are sound words.
By the way, Mark. I have found a way around the “need to clean every 100-200 shots” scenario. It is called Ballistol, and my R2 barrel loves the stuff. I can now go 500 shots in between cleanings, and I do not see the lead “shards” like I used to.
Also, remember my post re: the barrel taking 20-30 shots to settle down after cleaning with Ultrabore? Well, it takes around 3 shots after cleaning with Ballistol.
I am currently filming a vid on this magic juice. I’m going to put PA out of stock in 24 hours. 🙂

The .25 has serious punch and knock-down power over the .22 at longer ranges. It also is reported to hold it’s trajectory better in windy conditions.
For these reasons alone, I would stick with the .25, however Ed does not currently make a .25 Standard. When he gets around to it, they will sell very well. But I realize he can’t make start making every gun in every caliber and in every length everyone desires. If he starts doing that, his quality is very likely to suffer, because no one can do everything perfect. Ed found his niche and is sticking to it, and going slowly. Good for him!

I didn’t want to upset you. Sorry if I did. Maybe my bad english mislead you.
I pointed out that you will have more info on the forum if you take the time and if you have the time to read. There are people that don’t have time to read all the topics and cut corners by opening a new topic. That didn’t bothered me and I took the time to post when I saw that nobody did, and tried to cover all your questions as brief as possible.
Your questions didn’t seemed redundant to me. They do now when you said that you read almost every post.
Sorry again for the misunderstanding…
LOL 😀
You guys are friggin killin me. I have a R3 Long. .25 on order and I don’t want to change my mind because I’ve been on the list for awhile now.
Thanks guys much appreciated.I think I have the older barrel as like Ted`s it needs cleaning after about 200 shots.I really like the stocks and barrel setup of the R3`s.I`m going to order one but not sure which model thanks, mark ps.DVDRW I read almost every post back to the begining before purchasing my gun last summer and following Ted`s videos from the first which is how I got interested in them.Don`t know why my questions seem redundant to you?

I’ve owned the Standard and Short, both were dead accurate.
If you can hold any Edgun steady, it will put a hole where you aim. I did indeed shoot bagworms out of my 100 foot Oak tree with my Shorty. That was about 150 feet distant and I was taking 1/4″ twigs off that held the bagworms. With a good scope, anything is possible with these guns.
My preference is also the Standard. It is the best for shot count, weight, length, but it’s accuracy is no better or worse than the other two lengths.
By the way, accuracy wise, it makes no difference what model barrel you have, old or new, they all will outshoot your ability. Ed’s barrels started with “Perfect”. He just went on to “Perfecter” and “More Perfecter”. You as a shooter probably will be unable to tell the difference from the R1 or the R3.
Unless you shoot from a vice, you will be unable to tell the difference, except perhaps cleaning every 500 to 1000 shots on the older barrels, and going 2000 shots on the new barrels. That’s just rifling changes. Accuracy is crazy insane on on all his barrels. You cannot outshoot the accuracy inherent in any of his barrels.
My thoughts.

Hey mark6869..
I don’t have an explanation for my short being so accurate. 🙂
If I would order an R3, it would be the standard length. Why?
I think the standard is the best compromise between enough shots and stability. The standard beats the short in shots and the long in stability. But until I do not have an R3, I really i’m not 100% sure 🙂
ps. Every Edgun is accurate! I’m sure of that. Even with the short, standard or long one. THe only thing is, they are all very hold sensitive and I think the standard is the least (like 2% less) hold sensitive.
But this is only of you want to be a competition beast. If you want to go out hunt, take the long and the .25 one!
I’m sure you’ll find a lot more info on this forum if you take/have the time to read it. In a few words:
I have the long .22 R3 and LOVE IT. Me and others can’t find enough good words to say about it so we keep it simple. Love it !
I don’t have the .25 but others who have both say the .22 is slightly better in terms of accuracy. I don’t see much difference and the kick downrange is more powerful.
The longer barrel and longer tube gives more shots per fill but that’s about all that is better with long vs standard. Hoot cleaned his tree of the dead infested twigs shooting his short version. There are pictures here somewhere. Just find them.
Edward or Tony can help you with the serial but I have a feeling that the barrel is the old version.

THEN DON’T CLEAN IT!!!!!!!!
If your gun shoots good, don’t brake it!!! Please, only if you see for almost 50 pellets in a row a very bad spread, then you can start THINKING of cleaning!
