does anyone have pics of damaged Vulcan poppets ?
didn’t want to hijac any other threads so thought I’d just start a new one to ask.
I’ve seen a few people mention Vulcans that have dumped air due to damaged valve poppets, and even a couple who have mentioned broken or cracked poppet stems.
I have a friend who’s Vulcan has also suffered from a rapid air dump, and I am suspecting the same thing has probably happened.
I have not taken the gun apart yet to verify, if in fact this is the cause, but I’m confident it is quite likely. It will probably be another week or so before I have the gun and the time to open it up.
I know that I can get replacement poppets from Earnest Rowe, and I have sent him an email. He has responded and is out of the country for another week or so, so it will take a little while to get them from him. no worries there.
I would greatly appreciate it if any of you who have experienced a failed Vulcan poppet would post up a pic of it here, to better give me an idea of what I will be inspecting for.
My buddy actually has 2 Vulcans. One of them was a gift to his 85 year old father, who has only shot the gun a couple of times and he is absolutely loving it.
If these poppets are a known common problem, then we will most likely want to replace the one in his fathers gun too,… before it fails on him during one of our fun shoots.

You need to try to get over your bad case of constipation of the brain and diaharreh of the mouth before you get on here slamming one of the most qualified and helpful guy we have in our community when it comes to keeping our guns shooting at top performance. After watching a couple of Earnest’ vids, and seeing the mod he does to the receiver to eliminate the hammer hitting the action, my buddy decided to just go ahead and send it out for the full “Earnest Does Vulcan Magic” mod/tune. :4: :8: :biggrinn:

The actual MOA in a bullpup Vulcan doesn’t really matter…the gun will outshoot your ability to hold steady any day of the week, at any distance!
I’ve never, ever heard of anyone complaining of accuracy problems with a Vulcan. Sometimes guys shot them too hot and got pellet wobble, but using a decent grade pellet at speeds under 950 fps…I cannot remember anyone being able to claim they could do better with a different gun.
It would be interesting to see what happens if someone mounted it in a machine rest and tested for results at different distances. The best recommendation I can give is every time I shot at something…that something ended up dead with one shot.
The Eastern European have pcp guns down to a science…Cricket, Vulcan, Edgun, Mutant all are state of the art accuracy. That can’t necessarily be said for the other makers, except for a very few.

My only beef with my Vulcan .25 was breaking the heads off those tiny screws he was using. The screws were tight to begin with and with a hard twist those heads broke off even with the breech. Easy-Out wouldn’t remove them so I had to drill it out. Bad juju!
I’d buy another one if those screws were larger diameter and had stronger heads!

Mine is a Gen 3, the one just before the new stock… Can’t say for sure about the Gen 4. Don’t really know what the other differences are.
