Does it never stop? My Talon is shooting crap ..

Today i did some chronying ..

2. 862
3. 855
4. 857
5. WTF? 699
6. more WTF? 601
7. even more WTF? 401
8. 852 .. this is wierd …

BRAKE

1. 856
2. 860
3. 860-850

What does this mean? I’ve been talking with a good friend of mine about this problem, and he thinks it’s lubrication .. I applied some vaseline today against the squeeking noise on the breech.. Is it really that small amount of vaseline ? 😯

What King says +

The hammer alginment is critical for consistent shots. It should slide smoothly over the top hat and lock into place and stay where you put it when you push it sideways to lock. My little foam piece that you hold on to move the hammer was dragging and causing inconsistencies (that was in addition to my barrel alignment problem that caused the hammer to rub over the top hat…

Your gun should work with stock parts with no problems.

It looks like you did not completely seat your breech until it “clicks” onto the top hat for a couple of shots or your hammer chattered a bit.

If your hammer is chattering. Give a tiny bit of lube to it. As for the breech make sure it is seated until it clicks over the top hat.

I think you’re on the right track with a heavier hammer. I had one doing the same thing and that took care of the issue. While you’ve got it apart putting the new hammer in, go ahead and replace the O-rings with the 90 durometer ones.

But it’s really annoying .. ever since that Talon came in the door, it’s been teasing me .. i haven’t got it to shoot all right yet .. 😥

But i’ve just ordered a new heavier hammer + a new custom breech, so i’m going to make it shoot .. one way or another! 8)

I was shooting JSB exacts 18 grains 8)

It’s no big deal man. Take it apart, clean the vaseline out of it and relube sparingly with something suitable.

Lots of knowledgeable people here and they’ll help you get it worked out.

What pellets are you shooting? JSB Exact or Beeman Kodiak are pretty norm for accurate shooting in these barrels.

It’s not the chrony, since it has been measuring my benjamin disco at the exact same distance. it was very consistent.

And i was also shooting at a target, and when the gun had the wierd numbers, the pellet was all of target.

Although i’ve been told to use silicone grease, or divers grease to lubricate the gun?

I forgot to also mention… could it be your Chrony? Move it out just a bit further so the air blast doesn’t disrupt the readings. Shoot through it at consistent height and angle.

It’s probably a matter of the hammer. I wouldn’t recommend vaseline as a lubricant. It’s sticky and might possibly cause the inconsistencies in the hammer you’re seeing.

Clean it up and lube the inside/outside of the hammer sparingly with a teflon spray. Might also put some on the valve stem. A silicone spray would work also as long as it dries.
