Double Sweet Spot
I think I found a double sweet spot for my Talon SS 22 cal with 24 in barrel. Still learning what it likes. 50 yard and 100 yard shooting session.
Started off 3100 psi fill
Pw 6 kodiak 880 fps 1.25 inch group
Pw 8 kodiak 900 fps 1.25 inch group
Pw 8 jsb 18.13 940 fps 1.25 inch group
After 13 shots pressure was at 2800 psi
Then shot Kodiak 1 inch group and Jsb 18 gr 1 inch group – 3 shots each
Dp now at 2700 after 6 more shots
Then Kodiak 3/4 inch group 890 fps then Jsb 18 1 inch group at 925 fps
After 8 more shots dp now at 2600 psi
Then Kodiak 1/2 inch 4 shot group then Jsb 18 1/2 inch 4 shot group.
Dp now at 2450 psi
Looks like my gun likes Kodiaks at 2800 to 2400 psi with PW at 8.
Then I shot A few shots at 100 w kodiak – 4 mil dots holdover at 10x zero at 1 inch above at 50 yd. Hit small rocks consistently till pressure dropped to 2200. Then the surprise!
Went to JSB 16 grain. Shot over 30 shots at 100 to 120 yards hitting
small rocks with 4 to 5 dot holdover. Groups around an inch till pressure was at 1500.
So what I have is 30 or so accurate high power Kodiak shots with 2800 to 2400 tank pressure and around and 30 really accurate JSB 16 grain shots until the tank pressure drops to around 1500 psi.
Not sure what velocity was with JSB 16 gr. Was having too much fun hitting long range rocks.
Double Sweet Spot!
