Q:

Dragon Claw .50

being a gluten for punishment I decided to take advantage of PA’s fine offer of 10% off on the .50, then they sweetened the deal by offer 10% off the whole order on top of that 😯

couldn’t say no, so I’m getting Dragon Claw 50, 100 rounds of ammo and the 10 for 10 all shipped for $571 😎

Sold a powder burner and had money burning a hole in my pocket, saw the deal and couldn’t resist

got the new rings and scope on, was able to quickly adjust it so that I was dead center at 20 yards with out touching the scope adjustments 😎

not to cast up some more ammo and step back a bit farther

was fitting a new scope with a bigger bell when I noticed the front sight and can seemed to be sitting a bit to the left in the view 😯

took it off and took a closer look at the scope rail that is screwed to the top of the gun, it points ever so slightly to the right

good thing I got some adjustable scope rings coming 🙄

got to do a bit more casting, you can see the effects of heating up the mold, left to right, colder to hotter…
I think it got a bit too hot and that caused the “frost” effect. ( the second from left is actually after I let the mold cool a bit

hoping to get in a bit of shooting tomorrow

havent gottne to do much shooting lately but I made strides to make it more affordable, decided to get into casting

got a lee pot and built a PID for it and a bench to put it all on. also got a Accurate molds mold in 50 cal

these look pretty poor, but I did this without any prep and no temperature gauge, just wanted to see how they would cast 😆

Yeah I had it resting on the tube, that was probably a big no-no

I plan on shooting it bit more before I crack it open and try for more power and cleanup that shitty trigger pull.

My experience with longer, more powerful rifles is that they are more hold sensitive. Many don’t like solid rests or bags. Looks like the fps needs tinkering with, especially since the 25 offhand group’s not bad, i.e trajectory isn’t coming into play as much. Still, it’s quite a cannon! I didn’t know you could use “old eyes” as ammo.

Thanks for the groups and updates. :thumb:

50 yards off hand, iron sights, 2 shot and old eyes

Got a chance to chrony it today, with the chrony 14′ from the muzzle shooting 185 grn HP
Start charge at 200 Bar
low power:
1 599.1
2 628.8
3 645.9
4 670.6
5 693.2
6 695.8 fps
end charge a tad over 150 bar

high power – 200 bar start
1 767.6
2 742.9
3 720.4
tad under 150 bar

for a peak of 242 ft lbs or 328.1036 joules

oh yeah the trigger is shit 🙄

stretched kit out to 50 yards from a bench rest ( three holes strung along the bottom)

I don’t think it was happy the way it was on the rest…

this is off hand at 25 yards

will have to try off hand at 50 and maybe a different rest position

DogWood what happened to your Evanix Sniper?

Still have it and still working on it, has a slow valve leak that needs straightened out
Still doesn’t shoot as well as I’d like either and the replacement Konus has issues
I think the the gun is cursed :biggrinn:

Do you need an exorcist or a witch doctor? The review of “the Airgun reporter” was pretty solid, yours really must have a spirit of its own :confusedn:

I like it! looks great you sound like you will dial it in!

DogWood what happened to your Evanix Sniper?

Finally finished making my DC50 a bit more nieghborly – quiet it down a good bit, far from quiet but at least it doesn’t sound like a gun going off anymore
Still haven’t shot it a lot but so far so good
