If you are going to, don’t do so without the tank on the gun and dont do so with an empty tank.
Very important, I forgot to mention that. Do not fire the gun without the tank, the breech plug can bet damaged that way.
I doubt it unless the tank is empty. With an empty tank you would be slamming the tophat into the valve.
With the tank full, you will be wasting air and making a lot of noise.

Put a thick piece of foam between the breech and the bottle collar (what the tank screws into) so it doesn’t pound on that. Then you’ll be ok.
Firing with the tank on and no pellet loaded would be fine. Just be pumping out air. Just don’t get too low on air and dump the tank. That should be fine.
