Dyotat100 and Tofazfou…………1st date!

Naaaah, not like that you pervs. It was our first time out shooting together…lol!

Had been waiting for Doug to finally get his 257 together and he finally did last weekend. I’ll let Doug tell you guys all about his gun. We met up at my house at 6 am and hit the road soon after i loaded all my gear into Doug’s truck (it was really nice to be a passenger for a change…lol). We arrive at our shooting locale shortly after 7am+ and it was pretty dog on chilly. The forecast had warm sky’s around 9am so all we had to do was keep ourselves buys till then. No problem. We had a lot of gear, a lot of guns and in general, a lot of stuff to unload and shoot.

GUNS:
Rapid 25, TalonDor257, Condor 308, Condor 25, Condor 257,


GEAR:
Cameras, 4 SCBA tanks, 6′ table, chairs, shooting sand bags, shooting mat, binoculars, rangefinders, tripods/bi pods, ahhhh hell, here’s a pic of our stuff…lol

Upon arrival to our shooting area, we noticed that someone was gracious enough to have “DUMPED” a ton of targets (trash) right were i normally set up and sight in at 50 yards. There was even a whole toilet right in the middle of the trash pile…..lol. Doug immediately said, “i can hit that with my 308”. And of course, i said, “i gotta get that on video”… 😆 We then set up the shooting table and all our guns. It was time for a little sighting in as i had just installed a different scope on my TD257. This was the first outing for Doug’s 257 also.

It took us both a few shots to get fully sighted in but once we did, nothing could escape the SUPREME ACCURACY of our 257’s. Watching Doug’s gun zip 74 gr bullets downrange at 1060 +- fps was something short of breath taking. Those little bullets really got downrange with a quickness. and destroyed just about anything they hit. We destroyed everything in the trash pile that we could shoot at. Dougs 257 even destroyed a toilet water tank and then he used his Condor 308 to blow it even smaller smithereens.

Going Down Range:
After the 50 yard shooting session, the next step was to try our hands and guns at some fine 100 yard sniping. We set up pill bottles, seasoning bottles, glass bottles, buckets and various other targets at a Leupold Lasered 110 yards. I don’t know about Doug, but, i was truly amazed at how accurate these guns were. To hit a pill bottle is one thing but to hit just the top of that pill bottle at that range is something of a feat. And we were doing it shot after shot. After destroying all targets at 110 yards, Doug mentioned that he put a couple of shotgun shells on a Joshua tree cactus needle some 95 yards away. After a few misses apiece, Doug and i got the hang of where the bullets were going at that distance and it was lights out. 😯

Thoughts about my TalonDor 257:
My gun continues to amaze me not only with power and accuracy but also with “consistency”. It only took me about 7-8 shots to find zero when we 1st started sighting in 😯 And that’s all from a scope that was just installed on my Corsair 308. Day in and day out, or shall i say, every outing, my TalonDor 257 continues to bring a smile to my face. I can see why Jack Haley’s 257 and RJ’s 257 are as accuracy as they are. I totally believe them and their results. My gun shoots so flat for only shooting a 74 gr bullet at just over 900 FPS. Sighted dead on at 50 yards, 100 yards is just 2 lower mil dots. On all my other guns including my Rapid25, its dead on at 50 and the 4th lower dot at 100 yards. That caliber was 1 of the best decision in air gunning that I’ve made to date hands down. Jack Rabbits in an upcoming video are gonna have a bad day when i take the TD257 for a hunt.

Doug and I had a blast….literally! The next time though, I’m gonna push him and his 257 out to 200 yards! 😛
