Dyotats valve at 108 FPE/100 yards how many on 8 inchs
I sighted my Talon SSS in for 40 yards the other day with the Burris 2×7 Fulfield scope with ballistic reticle.
I have always considered tis set up to be a 4 or 5 shot per fill rifle with a 3400 PSI fill. But I had no idea what this would mean in the field.
Today I fine tuned it to shoot on the lower hash mark at 100 yards with the 56 grain LBT bullet @ 108 FPE from my 17 inch, as Syn points out “hacked barrel.”
Now with a 1.25 inch high zero at 50, it hits on at 6 inches low at 100 yards, which is on that lower hash mark which is 6 inches below the crosshair intersection at 100 yards, when on 7 power.
I usually shoot it tethered on steel, but for shit and grins, I decided to see how many times I could hit the 8 inch steel disc at 100 yards with that lower hash mark.
I filled to 3400 PSI and started shooting, holding at the same point each time, the lower hash mark in the center of the steel disc.
I had my first miss at fill level 2250PSI so I went thru 1150 PSI.
I hit it 20 times in a row. The shots were verticle on the disc and in 7 inches, 17 were in a 4 inch group.

I needed to make a correction on the title of this post.
I chronied the gun for 20 shots just now, or I should say 20 trigger pulls, because I only chronied only the first and last 5 shots, then 10 shots with no bullet to bleed it down and then 5 more shots over the chrony, so shots 1-5 and 15-20 actually had bullets in the gun.
First of all the top velocity was 931 FPS/108 FPE not 120 FPE and I corrected that in the title of the post.
Shot 5 was 890 FPS/97 FPE which is also the average FPS/FPE.
Shot 15 shot was 844 FPS and the 20th was 770 FPS/71 FPE.
The last 5 shots went into this group at 40 yards using my hands as a rest on top of the Mercedes. Again this was with a 2/7 scope with parallax adjusted for 100 yards.
