Q:

Edge frame for a .251 modded gun?

Has anyone considered an edge frame for a modded gun ? Looking at my edge reminds me of some of the modded frames Ive seen.Just wondering if anyone has ruled this frame out for any reason. I realize it would need a different breech. What do you guys think ?

Anyone got a clue as to the aluminum alloy type the AF frames are made out of?
If it’s a weldable aluminum alloy it should be easy enough to cut out the Edge’s side cock material & Tig some new blank pieces in to them be machined as needed to get exactly what you want.

There is no way I would do this to mine, but please keep us updated with pictures.

After taking mine apart I now see the breech problem. This wont be as easy as I hoped but still seems possible.Just need to figure a new breech design.

To bad the slot is not centered. Slot needs to be opened up for a larger bushing. At least .3125″ and then you need the notch down to lock the breech closed.

It’s a bummer that AF would never sell me a partially machined frame so I could do what I want to with it.

If thats the case a longer breech could be made. The breech will be a custom made piece on mine anyway so making a bit longer if needed shouldnt be a problem.

The problem that may arise is with the bolt handle. On the Edge it floats in a slot on the breech. With a more powerful air rifle it will need to be bolted directly to the breech for strength, so it will need to be able to move backward more than will be allowed with the present slot. Maybe. It may still be allowed to float in a slot in the breech. I guess I will just have to take mine apart and study on that some.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. The Frame sure looks a lot stronger at the breach! 😉 😀

Knife

trigger pins look the same positions as the old af guns, and its already a side lever. The breech is different and one would have to be custom made.

Post some pics of the breech area. Is the trigger different? That would be my concern.
