Q:

Edge/Talon compatibility?

Can I put a different tank on an Edge, and get the same performance? For instance, if I have an edge, can I use the CO2 adapter and tank to get more velocity than the original tank? Can I use a Talon SS tank to get even more velocity?

I like your forum, I think it says something that is very reasonable. I will always look to this forum, hoping each time to see some different things.

I have used the edge tank on my Talon and while I have not chronied it, the power is close to the full edge set up. Most likely because the heavier spring doesn’t do much except slam the top hat harder, give the ‘regulated’ valve. This is bothersome to me even if not harmful. I don’t know how I would know of damage unless a failure occurs. I’m just hoping the lighter spring produces the same results.

We are in the the midst of a very prolonged move and almost all my AF stuff has been packed for a month and will be for another month.

To be honest, I think I’m done with the Edge frame. Got tired of the cocking cycle. I did pick up a micrometer tank and it shoots a hotter than the edge tank. Since I’m not a 3p shooter, I’m probably going to stick with the talon frame and an edge tank and/or micrometer tank when I’m not using CO2.

I know I’m repeating myself from previous posts, this just hasn’t crossed my mind lately.

I’ll have a ton of stuff for sale when I have a place to unpack. That selection may include a spare edge tank. Stay tuned.

I will post back when I can swap springs but as I said, could be a while.

Bean, let us know if the edge spring and hammer worked out for your talon (did you try it with the talon tank and edge spring and hammer?). I have a TSS and was interested in having a spare edge tank on hand, there a nice size for a back-up. I’m also interested in if the stock talon/SS hammer and spring will cause valve problems if using an edge tank.

I’ve done it. But really, I don’t see the point.

The edge spring is not heavy enough to reliably open the standard valves on the standard HPA and CO2 adapters. When the valve opens, yep, its pretty close to a TSS on CO2. But then you skip a pellet across the floor 10 feet in front of you a little too often. Just as inconsistent with the HPA bottle.

You’d need a Talon/TSS spring but then guess what, the bugger becomes harder to cock and you’ll be breaking that oring holding your breech pieces together.

I love shooting my edge but only for it was designed for.

On the other hand, I purchased a second edge tank to put on my .177 Talon and guess what…. I like it better. I don’t need to deal with the way the edges cocks. I think I might put the lighter edge hammer spring in the gun and see what happens. Don’t want to break the valve.

from what i know the talon tanks will screw in though the CO2 is the lowest power stock bottle for the Talon. I can not see it giving you much in the way of power gains as my one only shows about 11ftlb with the power wheel all the way up. So it may even loose you power on a edge with stock spring and hammer. A stock Talon HPA bottle may be a better option. But i have never tried any of this.
