Hi,
I shoot Matador .22 with x10 scope. This is what I achieve at the distance of 10 meters (5 shots):
However, at the distance of 50 meters the groups are worse :cry:.
I can achieve this (5 shots, 50 meters):
3.5 mm CTC
and this (5 shots, 50 meters):
4.5 mm CTC
I would like to improve the accuracy. The goal is to shoot 1 mm CTC at 50 meters consistently.
Do you think that barrel polishing can help? What would you recommend?

what means “sized by mag”?
I tried JSB Kings as they were suggested and accuracy was ok but not great. Tried all different flavours of pellets – Barracuda, Logun Penetrators, Benjamin Domes etc etc and Air Arms were the most accurate by far! I think they have better quality over JSB.
3 shot zero group at 35yds (my zero range)
8 shot 100yd group (first time try and not tried since lol)
I’ve polished my barrel and pushed pellets through at various stages to check tightness etc and its worked a dream. I’d recommend securing the HST right off the bat so the bugger don’t move and then just shoot it for 500-1500 shots before any thought of tinkering. Barrel cleaning wont hurt but see what accuracy is like out the box.

Anyine tried H&N Barracuda?
I am picking mine up on Saturday. I have two different batches of JSB Kings.
The gun is brand new so it might need breaking in?
The gunsmith who tuned the gun used Barracuda and said it was running sweet as a nut at 50 FT pounds. looking forward to it either way.
Ok, lots of people that use JSB find that the AA pellets perform just a little bit better due to better pellet to pellet consistency inside the tin and less damaged skirts. Maybe it is worth a try?
JSB Heavy. I tried multiple different dies of JSB Heavy. All of them were decent but with just one I achieved the results posted here. JSB Heavy dies produce pellets with different head diameters from 5.52 to 5.55 and with different skirt thickness. The pellets are rather consistent within one tin when it comes to head diameter. All you need is to choose the best die for your barrel. I do it in the following way. Clean the barrel, shoot 15 groups, 5 shots each, at the distance of 50 meters, indoors. Compute arithmetic average (all fliers should be included). Repeat the process with a differen die. Choose the die which produced the tightest group by average.
Shooter, what pellets are you using, have you tried Air Arms pellets or perhaps if you’r using 16gr then FX pellets?
I’m a little hard on myself too but I wouldn’t make any adjustments ton my 25 if it was shooting like that.

I can only think of one thing apart from what has already been suggested with sorting pellets, and it is to polish the barrel. But I would not touch a gun that is shooting so well, excellent shooting 😛

Bragging? In what sense?
sort and weigh your pellets. Identify which head diameter and weight your gun shoots best, and then feed it only that. Other than that stop bragging! :rofl:

That’s right, I never realised but the plastic mags I have size the pellets prior to going into breech. The far left pellet wasn’t put through the mag and the deeper grooves from the barrels lands can be seen.
