Q:

Edgun air tubes

Anyone know what material (7075-T6?) and the max pressure rating is on Eds tubes? Just curious as to the specs. I know he prefers to use socket head cap screws vs threads which I understand is a stronger solution.

Thanks

Cricket is spot on. I have experimented with shot count and efficiency on every regulated gun I own. I can honestly report that unless you need a few extra shots for hunting (you are a long way from your air supply) you are better off filling every gun below 250 BAR. The regulator is more efficient at lower pressures and you will save air on your supply tank. In other words your gun will produce more joules/CC which means more efficiency.

I heard most tubes can take 350bar but it is not good for them, and the reg probably hates it too and whatnot. Rule of thumb, never go over 250 bar and you gun will live a longer and happier life :2cents:

Thanks. I certainly will not be going above 220b on any of my PCP’s unless its stated to do so.

I was doing some research on tube strength based on diameter, wall thickness and material type i.e. 7075, 6061, and Titanium. Was looking for the safety factor built into these designs based on those variables. 7075 seems best for these pressures and Ti even better for corrosion and fatigue resistance. I know its a compromise based on weight, fill volume, and safety factors.

Since I have two Edguns I was curious what Ed has used in his designs.

Dan,

The thread posted below has a good discussion of issues arising with non-standard use of air tubes. The only folks who should be fiddling around with non-standard applications are skilled in pressure vessel design, and are working in a controlled development environment.

For the rest of us, it is best to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.

My R3M manual says 220 bar maximum. If Ed says it will withstand 300, that’s great. This doesn’t change the fact that the full, safe useful life of the tube is achieved at 220 and below.

Intresting this. I see the cricket’s recommend fill is 300. So if you put to 250bar in the dgun will shot count be better ?????

Eduard told me long time ago… that all Edgun air reservoirs can be refilled to 300 bars… even the Regulators can work with 300 bars… but he told me the air consumption will not good with 300 bars…otherwise there is no problem for 300 bar refill….

I was planning to test my Edguns with 300 bars…and see the results. ..but still not get time…

Hope someone can do this…. i will do it
..but currently have no time. …

Regarding the material. ..i have no clue about it. ..
