Does the new (or most recent shipment) Lelya come with the standard or extended rail system?
Short “standard” rail system…
Long “extended” rail system…
I’m hoping it comes with the extended version… 😉

I am left handed as well.
The Lelya breech is a design take-off from his Veles pistol. As such, it was originally designed to handle the lower powered pistol valve and lighter .117 sized caliber pellets. It was only after Ed made the mistake of coming onto this forum that we talked him into putting the Lelya out in two calibers…117 and .22.
In fact, Dr. OldGoat has the first .25 Matador in the world and it was he who helped convince Ed into taking on the larger calibers as well.
The breech design is clever, but, on some Lelyas, has had a tendency to pop open, sometimes, on its own when fired. Not much…just a fraction of an inch, not all the time, and it doesn’t hurt anything, but still Ed made a video to show how and why it did that. I don’t know if there has ever been a fix, but I wouldn’t anticipate that design on the more powerful rifles in .22 and .25 caliber…bigger valves, higher back pressures on the bolt.
A bolt is very efficient, but not ambi-friendly and there are a lot of us lefties out here that suffer in silence.

One more question; Why would Ed not use the Leyla breech set up on all his rifles and there would not be any issues for us left handed guys. Heck I might even like one of those ugly little sawed off girls. 😀 Also the fill hole has a cover on it to keep crap out of where it shouldn’t be. Big step forward for Ed’s guns. 😀
Just remember just because a few of us are southpaws we are all not like our dear friend “Lefty” the Mrod BullPup king… 😯 👿

There may be easier ways to explain Ed’s designs, but I insist on details, and plenty of them. How else can the ignorant learn…you, of all people, should know that!!!

The Edgun Lelya is the worlds smallest Edgun pcp rifle.
It has no bolt, no automatic feed, clips, or magazines.
It is the only air gun in the world that you load from the muzzle!
That’s right my man…it comes with a hardened aluminum “push pole” that is used to seat the pellet in the breech.
The push pole has a recessed end where you put the pellet, nose first, and a small O-ring that holds it in place. Then you quite simply “push the pole” down until it contacts the breech, where the pellet is seated onto the end of a titanium transfer port. When that happens, the O-ring’s force is less powerful than the transfer ports patented contact mechanism, and the pellet stays in contact when the pole is removed. There is no waste of air with this design. It is 100% efficient, as a portion of the compressed air is recycled back into it’s tiny air tube via a one way vent near the muzzle. Each time you shoot, you recapture +/- 15% of the pressurized air behind the pellet, before the pellet leaves the bore a mili-second later.
That’s how you can achieve the large number of shots from such a small volume of air. It is also the only air gun that you fill from the butt end of the gun. The air probe fits into the butt, whose filtered and remote location helps keep contaminants out of the air cylinder.
Russians invented the first air powered rifles, and this method of front loading was common with all rifles of that day. So, it seemed normal to load air rifles from the muzzle, rather than the breech, especially since there was no ignition system involved.
Advances were eventually made, but Ed wanted to preserve the culture and history of early Russian engineering efforts in air guns. When you hold a Lelya in your hands, you are holding a piece of history. That’s why so few are made…there is not much demand except from purists like syphilis lips, “SyOpSys”. A man with eccentric needs and preferences!
The design, at that time was pure genius. Although for today it’s admittedly not for everyone, but none the less, pure Ed genius at work with the innovative air recapture system!!!
