Q:

Edgun Performance, a message from Ed

Here’s a message from Ed, the president of Edgun. I hope this helps answer any questions. He does not sacrifice performance and accuracy for power and I think he’s on the right track. There’s a reason these things are so accurate! I have copied and pasted the message below.

As for the power — I guaranty that power of ANY my gun will be no

I don’t know when Tony started importing the Edgun. I am thinking that he started early this year. Whenever he started, I think that the all of guns he started getting were the newer models. I haven’t heard of anyone getting a gun from him that has a safety. I think that the safety was deleted when the internals were changed.

I did see where Tony sold his personal gun. He said that it was shot very little and was used for a demonstrator. It had a safety and was unpainted.

Varminter; Yes the guns being shipped now are the same as the ones that were being shipped earlier in the year only the moderator has changed. I got mine in July and it is different internally than the gun that is shown in the manual. The front cover of the manual shows an Edgun with a safety and an additional screw on moderator. Mine doesn’t have a safety, the add on moderator will fit and I have one ordered.

When you get yours, take the stock off and take a look. There is only one screw that holds the stock on and it is in the front of the trigger guard. The assembly that holds the hammer, hammer spring and the trigger sears, has changed in size and shape. The hammer spring tensioning screw has been moved, meaning that just about all of the internals have been redesigned or at least moved.

When I first got my gun, I tried to get my manual translated. Once I took the stock off and saw all of the changes made, I gave up on it.

Edward has said that he is working on an english version of the manual and dvd that will cover the improved gun. I am waiting for that. By the way, the dvd shows a new style Edgun being assembled, I have no idea what the guy is saying.

I don’t know which Edgun model the manual was written for but the newest model with the non threaded barrel shroud is identical to the previous model except for the barrel shroud. This is what Tony told me.

I have a friend who teaches english in russia, if you would like me to ask him to convert the manual to english that’s no problem. Just send it over to me.

P.S Are the eEdGuns regged?

Mine also shoots the JSB 18.1’s at 905 for 55-58 shots. I have tried turning it up. 925 gets me about 35 shots and 935 about 25. I put it back to 905. Pigeons shot at 85 yards don’t seem to notice the difference.

I think that the guys that are getting 940-950 for 50 shots either have a differently adjusted regulator or, their chronys are reading off. I think that increasing the hammer spring preload causes the valve to stay open too long, wasting air. I am thinking that the regulator must have a sweet spot and that the slower shooting guns have their regulator set a little lower. I could be wrong and probably am, I’m use to it, doesn’t bother me as much anymore.

As far as getting the manual translated, the Edguns that are being shipped now are so much different internally than what is shown in the manual, it wouldn’t help much. Edward has said that he is working on a manual and a dvd both in ENGLISH for the improved guns that are now shipping.

Can someone scan it onto their computer and then run it through one of those free translator programs online. If someone can email me the manual, I’ll do it.

Hey NJ,
I am a wedding photographer and my bride this past weekend moved here recently from Russia. I was very tempted to take along my Edgun manual and ask her some questions. I thought better of it in the end but I was tempted.

I hope I get one like njnoodles’ too! The Edgun website states that all 3 models are adjustable up to 1050 ft/sec. and able to be filled up to 210 bar. I posted this so we all know what to expect because it really sucks to be disappointed after anxiously waiting for yours to arrive. By the way, Tony has his most current shipment in. Mine is still yet to arrive from Russia but some of you guys should be receiving yours soon. Make sure to post comments and results.

Harry, mine shoots at 905fps average over 50 shots with 18gr. JSB. I was able to get it up to 925fps average but could only get 35 shots before it started to drop off quickly.

Cool, thanks for posting. I hope when I get an Edgun it will shoot like NJN’s.. in the 930-950fps range with 18gr JSB’s for 40 shots. I don’t think I would like one shooting 870fps although it’s not that bad, but it’s a big difference in energy.. Over 5 ft-lbs. Shouldn’t have to be that way. Imagine you spending $1K on 410 FAC and yours shoots 25fpe and your neighbor’s 30fpe. Wouldn’t that bother you? They should configure them all the same.

I can see if it was a 75fpe gun and you get one that’s 70. Not that big of a deal. That’s still a lot of power, but to go from 35.xfpe down to 30, that’s a 15% difference. I can see a +/- 5-7% difference but not more than that. 15% is a lot.
