Edgun R3 22 long breakin update and chrony run
Finally got out to farm today for some pellet slinging break in. My R3 came precharged at 190 bar on Edgun gauge.I counted the shots until it dropped 100 bar(Edgun guage read 90bar). 123 shots total. The initial first 25 shots went over the chrony and were clipping in the 940 fps range. Today I went through four refills and a full 500 tin of JSB 18s.Pretty consistent shots per fill.At each refill it started right at 1400 psi and ended at 3000 per fill station gauge.Gauge on Edgun read just half past mark for 190bar.
Came home and brought out chrony and ran a full string.New red label JSB tin unsorted pellets.Process was load, shoot, write down reading, repeat.
8 seconds per shot cycle. Pretty consistent 3-4fps spread.
Shot 1-30 average 855 fps ,then the spread started slowly moving up. 30-50 860fps average. 50-80 was 870fps average, shot 87 hit 890 and it sat there until shot 113 then slowly tapered off to 860fps at shot 125.Edgun gauge read 90 bar.
Looking at string it was clear to me from what Ive been reading about the Edgun that the regulator was definitely working correctly now and I just needed a bit more HammerSpringTension to get on the reg fully at higher psi.So I popped off stock, indexed original setting on HST and gave it a half turn more tension.Refilled, let tube cool then hit chrony.Ran 20 pellets through it at 915 fps with 2 fps spread.
Backed HST out appx 1/8 turn, refilled gun,and another 20 over chrony.
891 fps.Bullseye!!! So I kept going until shot 111 (Gauge read 90 bar) and fps started to taper off slowly until 852fps at shot 125.
111 shots at 891fps with a 3-4fps spread with unsorted pellets right out of tin off a 388cm tube.I am effin impressed and love this gun!!
Ed,I bow to you for such a finely crafted ,efficient, and beautiful piece of death dealing art.
