I know it will vary with mounts, but if someone would be so kind as to offer what yours is and your mount type. Thanks… I finally decided on the Hawke Sidewinder 30 6-24-56. I was up in the air about scopes, mostle all good reviews about Hawke’s and not wanting to spend over the 500 ish mark, finally stumbled on this one for 15% off typical price and free shipping. Looking for a good 1 piece mount with quick detach now if you have one you want to recommend. I want to move it fore and aft for use with HD slow mo. camera and not loose me center.

Here is something to consider. I shoot JSB 18. at 935 fps out of my M3 long and have a Hawke 6.5 – 24 x 56 scope 20x mildot scope. With this set up and a 40 yd zero and at 24x each mildot corresponds with a 10 yard increment out to 100 yds (almost). It is great for in field quick shooting at different ranges (hunting). Here is the data:

I might be a little off on one of these because I am doing this from memory but you get the idea. No charts and a easy way to quickly know holdover.
Likely 2.5″ would be a good number until you have your actual mounts.
Mine is 2 3/8″ in Burris Signature extra highs.
I have shot a lot of flat top AR 15 rounds and moved scopes fore and aft so ya they move a tinge but are acceptably repeatable at each location for my purpose so I am not too concerned about that. I had picked up on the forward cant on the R3 guns and it should be a good thing. I am mostly a short range pest bird and long range target guy so no issues should arise. This is my first Edgun so looking to play with chairgun and decide on my “0 distance ” and this height above bbl is needed to get the best results. I am guessing a 75 yard ” 0 ” and being able to have a 1″ kill zone from 20 to 55 yards.
Also, if you didn’t know the R3s scope rails are not flat. Ed has put a .5 degree 30 MOA incline in them to aid in additional elevation for distance shooting. That said the cool guys are buying the Burris one-piece mounts typically on their bullpups. I don’t bother shifting the scopes for my slo-mo camera setup because my gun is always on a rest when videoing and the 2-piece rings are so much lighter so I just stick with them. If you search the bullpup archive you will find recent discussions on the scope mounts over there rather than where they belong (here). 😯
I am not sure that you will be able to use a quick detach mount to move the scope forward or backward to allow the camera to mount up. I have tested the quick release set ups and they always maintain zero or very close to it but that was putting it back into the same spot on the rail. It is my understanding that they only hold zero when done that way and not by switching location and that is why you see some rails marked so you can easily put it back. Has anyone tried moving the scope closer or farther down the rail and still holding zero? Maybe it will still work I dont know.
