Edgun VS American crow
I am at the point where I can only get these crows at extreme ranges. I swear they know my car, they know the sound of an EDgun cocking and they know my face. Trust me this murder does not like any of the 3 aforementioned items. I took the crow with the 18.1 at 150 yards

OK Guys, I do not have an Ed gun . I do have a Talon SS w/12″ barrel shooting .22cal. H&N 18.21 gr. Crow Magnums wheel power set on
#4 and dropping crows on the spot . Also shooting crows with my Vulcan .25cal. using H&N Baracudas 28.40 gr pellets . When shooting
the .25 cal. pellets once in a while they will fly off but they really do not generally fly more than 15 to 20 yds. away before they drop
dead so far as yet . I think it really isn’t the caliber of the gun as much as it is the grain of the pellet used on them so far out of all of
the posts on this matter only one person stated that they were using an 18 gr. pellet and everyone else stated they were either shooting
a .22cal. or a .25cal. gun and not stating what pellet grain they were shooting . So I’m going to leave it up to all of you Ed gun shooters ,
is it the caliber of the gun ? Or is it the grain size of the pellet being used ? ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓

Yep, I knew you were a gangsta!
You got to stick and move. The key is not to get greedy. That’s what I have been told
Man, that is interesting behavior. I have never really popped one and had the murder go ape shit. How do you get away with that in the city? Are you doing a quick stop and shoot? Straight out of Compton playa!

Well, sometimes I pull an enemy at the gates move…that is wound the first crow then go to town on the others that come to help their fallen comrade. I do not do this in the city however because of the unwanted attention they will bring. A murder 30 strong makes one hell of a scene when they are all pissed.
They may fly away after getting popped by a .25 but I am sure they are not long for this earth! Getting a clean kill is the best but either way those little bastards are probably taking a dirt nap in short order. This is certainly an interesting ballistic/caliber phenomenon. Is it physiology/anatomy perhaps :geekn: ?

.25 does make more damages according to Ted’s video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DImiWYmrGsk. but I shoot .22 more accurate then .25 because of the light trigger and less recoil. If I can make the same shot placement, .25 wins. :2cents:
My wtf moment with a crow was…..
I nailed a crow, using my Vulcan and a jsb 18gr pellet.
He was in a tree, at 40 yards or so, I aimed for his head.
He dropped out of the tree, rolled around for a while & he stopped, I rang his bell good.
So I left, thinking, he was dead. So I come back later on, & WTF.
He standing there, his head was all bloody from his eye.
So I finish him off with a second shot.
Crows are smart tough birds, if they are side ways too you, and you hit them in the wing.
That will only, break their wing, its not a kill shot, the pellet will not make it too the heart.
Their wings have lots of feathers, its like armor.
I like too aim for center mass shots, high in the chest, or back high also will do the trick. 😯
Crows & bullpups go hand in hand.
I know this topic is about birds and .22 vs. 25 I find it interesting that many of you agree that the birds go down cleaner with the .22
Here’s the my experience with California ground squirrels. .25 caliber or larger is required. Too many of the squirrels run away after being shot with the .22
Guys…
If non of you won’t to admit or say that .22cal is more effective in hunting than .25cal …then here i m telling you that is my fully understand and had experience with both cals in hunting. …
YESSSSS…..22cal is more effective and has better penetration due to the smaller head diameter of the pellets comparing to .25cal pellet heads that have bigger diameter ….22cal able to penetrate the birds better and kill better….
Im not saying that from my pocket. .. i always go to hunt with my father in law…. he is aware of this and since the beginning i used .25cal he kept telling me that Hemn don’t bring. 25cal to hunt. ..only bring your .22cal…
Why?? Because he saw that i have hit more than 10 pheasants with my .25cal and all flew away and i missed. ..while i never missed anyone with my .22cal …
I have same experience with Other birds …
I even decided to set my .25cal to 940 – 950 FPS … still not sure….i have discussed this with Kayser ..told him that i noticed my .25cal is not able to drop the birds like my .22cal he was agree with me..
I always set both .22cal short & STD Edguns to 930 FPS …
I even had serious plan to get .25cal Short Edgun and Vulcan. ..but cancel both… if i ever take any guns..i wil take 22cal and .30cal Edgun R4M 😯
Because 22 maddy shots itself and with your poor ass shooting skills the gun does the killing. Thank Ed
Well about a year ago I went on vacation to a place that has hundereds of crows. I was there with my edgun R3 .22 I shot 3 out of 3 crows all over 80m and each one dropped like a stone. A few weeks ago I was at that spot again. I was shooting with my cricket .25. I did not even drop 1… hit 6 of them (all over 90m) but none of them went down. Yes the impact was loud. Yes, there was a good puff of feathers every time and yes they were flying away with a clear itch on their bodies, but they did not fall. :suprisedn:
We call unto Keyer to make us a vid, make us a vid. Oi Oi!! :6:
No I won’t tell you that my .22 is my go to gun for hunting. In fact I mostly use my .30 or .25 caliber. I have a buddy who shoots city crows all the time. For noise and safety he used a .22 cricket Compact. He shoots 16 grain at 880 FPS. He has 100s of crows down with that gun. I took him onto a farm where there were crows. For the hunt he brought his .25 cricket. He swore to me that his .22 killed crows better. The whole time he was with me he kept feeling like he should have brought his compact.
Now this is just opinion, I haven’t done penetration testing nor have I compared wound cavity results between the .22 and .25. The sloth stated the thought the .22 “slips through feathers” better. I have wondered the same thing. I have even seen a crow fly after being hit with a .30. He isn’t flying well but he still none the less he escaped. By nature I am a doubter. I like things to be proven as scientifically as possible. So at this point my best answer is I can’t explain it empirically.
The primary theory I have at this point is that maybe subconsciously I am more careful where I place my shot when using the .22. I also know that the .22 EDgun is one of the most accurate guns you could ever buy. Ask anyone who has ever owned the .22, they are capable of cutting cards at 75 yards. I have owned every bullpup (just about) nothing beats a .22 EDgun. So given these factors: accuracy, ease of shooting, and careful shot placement this is why I believe I kill more crows with a .22 than I do with the larger calibers.
The impact sounds like a firecracker and is enough to knock its ass out of the tree and send out a giant cloud of feathers, but instead of dropping dead it’ll spread it’s wings and flap off. IDK. The crows around here are big suckers, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s enough feathers/meat/bone in the chest to deflect a shot.

.25 has a stapler effect when pellet does not transmit its energy to the target. .22 is more efficient in this application, just aim into the lower neck and you’d be golden.
