Q:

Edgun vs Priority Mail

Well I’m one more nervous puppy. Posted a wanted ad for another Edgun. Had a taker, nice guy, 100% positive on the BOI and I feel fine about the transaction. But the post office is getting on my nerves.

Of course it doesn’t hurt that I have the patience of a 5-year-old either. It’s just that I get antsy with very expensive items in the hands of shippers.

Went out 2-3 day priority mail insured on Tuesday and was scanned into the system same day 3/6, in Indiana. Was told to expect delivery on 3/8 but I thought that might be a little optimistic. But it didn’t show today either. Called local post office. They tracked with the insurance number and there has been no scans since the first one on 3/6.

I just get images in my mind of Edgun vs forklift or Edgun vs thief, or maybe they scanned it through something and thought it to be a firearm………… don’t know how that would turn out. Yep, I’m whining.

Man I hope it shows up tomorrow.

Good to hear. Having lost some fairly valuable shipments in the transit before makes me a bit nervous every time.

Received a call from the Postmaster this AM and it arrived this morning.

Hadn’t been opened, packaging was undamaged everything is good. No explanation. Oh well, here’s a lesson learned.

I’ll post some pics when I get the glass mounted.

I can appreciate your situation. I have not had anything lost, but one item went to the wrong distribution center and it took them 3 weeks to find it and make final delivery. Buyer was pissed and I was nervous as heck. I cant be sure it was their mistake either, I think I reversed 2 numbers in the zip, that or the clerk did it. The receipt showed it going to the wrong town, which was keyed to zip code. Online you only have your reputation, my good looks go to waste. As a result I dont use the post office for high value gear, ups either. I cant be sure but think UPS hires the samsonite gorillas to handle freight. (hopefully you are old enough to have seen the old comercials). I just dont trust them. All the highest quality gear I have bought has been delivered by fed ex, across many different sellers. I took the hint.

I set up a fed ex account which is relatively easy. They turn out to be much cheaper than PO for things as large as air rifles. I go online, input the shipping data and print out a label and they show up the next day to pick it up. No driving around. No fuss. No problems so far.

The #1 reason I like them is that Fedex process checks the address to make sure its valid. They have caught my typos and prevented problems of the kind I had with the post office. Sounds corny but when I ship with fed ex I dont worry.

My local postmaster received my case today. She has called Indianapolis and learned that there are 3 mail distribution centers in the area. She thinks that she is working with someone that can help.

I have to wait two additional weeks before I can file an insurance claim. I hope it doesn’t come to that.

it is tough waiting for edgun, i purchased the around same time
as you late feb early march i also bought on the yellow paid on a thurs received the gun on the following friday had trouble sleeping literally all i did was think about the gun. been shooting everyday since ive received it 4 hours today.
im in love sighted it in first day the following day took it out hunting put a fox down at 65 yards head shot. it was awsome worth the wait youll love it as soon as you receive it, lov at first sight i hope you get it soon good luck and shoot straight 😀

what’s the latest?

Nada.

Called the 800 number today and got a case number. They say I will receive a phone call within one business day.

If they pulled it to inspect it for whatever reason, that’s fine with me. I guess if I saw an Edgun through an X-Ray machine (I assume they do this on some level) I would flag it too. I just want to make sure that it didn’t fall off a conveyor or isn’t at the bottom of a mail buggy and no one is bothering to pick it up.

Maybe this is a sign. The first “Adult” airgun I ever purchased was a AA Pro-Elite in .22 from ole Marty at Silver Streak Sports. He was located somewhere in the Northeast. I sent payment via Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. It scanned fine until it reached Philly and then nothing. I actually called the post office up there and spoke with the postmaster. According to him, my letter was lost but after I shared my desire to contact the postal inspectors, he came up with the letter and sent it on its’ way. Perhaps since I’m having trouble again, this should be my last purchase.
😕

Nothing today. Still shows the initial scan and nothing else.

The lady I spoke with said that I can start a trace Monday. We’ll see.

i can confirm LTLurker’s assessment, usps postal tracking reporting is 3 to 7 business days behind the actual package.

i’ve received confirmation of package delivery up to one week after the package was delivered.

i’ve learned, when package tracking is critical, use fedex or ups and skip usps.

I am at IWA 2012 in Nurnberg now, and expecting the UPS deliver the catalogs, calendars and other printed products yesterday, but failed. And I have no idea what is going on with my parcel, feeling as idiot talking with people at the exhibition and giving them my e-mail by writing it down on their business cards… 🙁

Daystayt has a flat TV screeen on their booth with Ted’s video, of course without EDgun 🙂

Let us know, i know it can get more than some realize when your mind starts wondering! I have been there to. It is just a good some of money we deal with at times and most all the time it goes well! 😆

I’m sure that’s the case. Man, I hope it comes tomorrow. If so, I’ll post a pic or two.

Liberty Man I will say the same thing LT posted! The post office tracking is like trying to track a humingbird! The last three times I used it, the item was on my fromt porch before it even showed up on the online tracking system! Now UPS works and the reason it does is most all the dirvers scan the package! and it will tell you excatally where it is at! post office just don’t get it done! they just collect the goods and deliever them! I will guarantee it will be there, then when you check on it online it will tell you delievered!!

The post office tracking system is crap. You’ll have it a couple of days before their system will show it delivered. Also insured with confirmation package actually take just a bit longer since they get scanned more along the way. You’ll probably get it tomorrow.
