Es seems a little high for 10 shots
I finally got around to putting my chronograph to work testing my Edgun. It seems no matter where I set the HST, I am seeing 20+fps Es for 10 shots. My pellet fps has ranged from 10-shot strings at about 940 fps down to 10-shot strings at about 830 fps. 20+ Es. I’s using the 18 grain JSB, but did a 10-shot string with the 15.89. At about 945 fps the gun shot an Es of 21. I get this spread whether starting at a 200 bar fill or starting at 175 bar. This is a certain symptom of… ? Is it the regulator? HS binding?

TBH I had put off using my chronograph because I do think it’s off, maybe reading just a little high if anything. Also it’s only been set up in my basement. I’ve used it for several years to help me with what light tuning I’ve done. Putting the high-reading issue aside, which I did when I dug the F1 chrony out and set it up (replaced the battery too). So basically the same setup except that I placed it just a few inches from the muzzle. Normally it’s three feet. From springers to non-regulated PCPs this is the first time I’ve seen this. I’ll know more once I get that full shot string recorded.
Squirrel hawker has a very good point. We need more information and the Chrony could be your problem. The first rule of any airgun is does it hold zero at 50 75 and 100 yards. Don’t get too deep into analysis paralysis. Work backwards from your target. Make sure you are not changing your muzzle distance compared to the Chrony. Give us a full shot string. Make sure your HST locking collar is tight. If it’s a cloudy day don’t use the sunshades on the Chrony. Don’t try to Chony in the middle of a super sunny day. If this is a new gun shoot 1000 rounds through it then re-test. I never even put mine on a chrony until I had 500 pellets down range.
Have you ruled out the chronograph? Do other guns test OK?
I notice a difference when I first shoot from a refill, but that may suggest the fill sweet spot is under 215 bar. It’s an odd thing to consistently get that same high Es even with changes to the HST and to pellet weight. It’s happening regardless of those things. Very interesting. But I’m headed out with the wife for the evening. I’ll think on it some more. Where does one get a regulator adjuster-thing?
It very well might but we should see that. Over night do you notice a change in velocity on the first shot or two?
I’ll try to get that test done. I’ve been searching the forum and it seems my situation might be leading to a leak in the regulator. Stay tuned.
A complete list of the string with the gauge pressure every few shots would really help.

What is the setting of your reg? What is the maximum speed you can reach with hst? Did you try other pellets?
