Q:

Evanix Rainstorm 2

Finally she showed up!!!

First impression is it looks just like the old one =)

Except this one is .25 cal!!!!

This is my first magazine fed air rifle and I hooked! I am going to be going through pellets way easier 😆

As I expected it was going to shoot balls to the walls and the first string went like 957, 933, 924, 908, 897. This was with JSB 25.4 gr. So I went down to Browns hardware and bought 3 springs. My luck the first spring I tried was a winner!!!! I have not measured it and they didn’t have the specs. Anyway new spring and two turns in the with the hammer spring adjustment and bam! Went back to browns and got a 2nd one!

FPSI – 2950’ish
EPSI – 1800’ish

866, 873, 873, 878, 880, 886, 888, 891, 899, 900
896, 899, 905, 903, 899, 905, 904, 900, 898, 887,
894, 891, 887, 877, 874, 872, 862, 856, 850, 841.

30 shots at 50 yards all day!

Averages for shots 1-25. And I usually throw away the first shot after a fill so it could even be a bit tighter

Hi – 905
Lo – 866
Avg – 890
ES – 39
SD – 11

It has a nice size tube. 280cc. And a 17″ barrel. I think with either a smaller transfer port or tougher valve return spring I could get 30 45fpe’ish shots with 30 fps spread. If I fill any high I need a heavier hammer spring or reduce the valve return spring. It’s using a good bit of air. I have only shot about 200 rounds maybe. So this could get better by some breaking in.

What else….

Super light. Shoulders and balances nicely. Has an adjustable pad.

It uses the new spring loaded mags. And they have been flawless with JSB 25.4 gr so far. And looks like you could hand load a 6 ring slug!!!! Only other pellets I had were the 31 gr Barracudas but they did not work well at all with the magazine. So I didn’t even test them. I would like to get some of the 43 gr EJ’s and see what the stock hammer spring does with them.

The trigger is pretty good. 2-stage adjustable. Haven’t measured the pull. But I would guess maybe 2 lbs.

Shroud is still hair curlers and springs style. I have read on the yellow there is tuner in SC who machine an insert. I will probably get that one. It’s not loud but could be quieter.

I have not been able to stretch her out yet but she was stacking at 10 yards. Hopefully will get out this Sunday. Running the numbers through chairgun I will go with a 40 yard zero. Puts me on from 15 to 45 with a .60″ kill zone. I put on the Bushy Legend 5-15×40 with high rings. This gives a 2″ sight height. You could probably do medium rings depending on the scope.

Okay now some pics 😆

Well, I’ve got to pay for that Evanix somehow.

Don’t laugh. I made $54.35 in two hours!

Outstanding Uncle Hoot!!! Now, how are you going to quiet it down??? 😉

Gutter-sniper!!!

Utter inane comments to your superiors whilst you sup on slop???

When I’m done, it will be SO quiet, the rifle will ask me if it’s been fired!

Give me proper homage, and perhaps I’ll share my secrets with you.

Meanwhile…since your wife may not be home to read the forum comments to you….feast your eyebulbs on THIS!!!!

Yes….my fine friend in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia…an actual X-Radiation photograph of the breech mechanism of the Rainstorm. (not the Rainstorm II, but probably no diff.)

There are two (2) screws to adjust the trigger stages. This photo might help locate them. !st Stage adj. is just behind the trigger, and let-off is just in front of the trigger, located on the sear. Look hard and you can just barely make them out. Incidentally, the trigger blade itself can be physicall moved to suit your particular trigger finger. Some of us like it way back, some in the middle. I believe it’s a 2.5mm hex to loosen it.

Meanwhile, I still wonder where that power adjustment screw is????

Regards,

Kindly ‘Ol Uncle H 😯 😯 T

PS: But wait….yes, wait…..is that a screw at the back of the breech, holding a pretension spring on the hammer????

SHAZAMMMM! I believe I may have found the elusive power adjustment spring!

Outstanding Uncle Hoot!!! Now, how are you going to quiet it down??? 😉

Pyramydair has the Evanix Rainstorm II for $749.00 in .22 caliber.

Just for kicks, I placed an order for one, and went to the final page to see what the total cost would be.

Shipping was free. I saw the coupon box and entered PYRAMYD-NRA and bingo!!! A message appeared that said, “the coupon has been applied in lieu of the free $18.00 shipping charge because the coupon is a higher value of $75.00.”

The total at the bottom for the Rainstorm II, .22 caliber, was $693.84 shipped. The .25 is about $50 more.

Here is a site that provides a brief positive review about the Rainstorm II, and beneath is a very comprehensive chart showing ballistics for the Rainstorm II shooting every pellet conceivable…

http://www.straightshooters.com/evinax-rainstorm-.22.html

It’s interesting to note the Kodiak Extra Heavy 25gr pellets produce a whooping 46 FPE in .22 caliber, at the muzzle. At 50 yards it is still producing 716 fps and producing 29 FPE. Considering the .22 Evanix’s power, it made me think, power like that and pellets at half the cost, I can’t justify a .25 for my use.

The Rainstorm II has a different ($35) 11 shot magazine than the $100 cheaper Rainstorm, and I suspect it has a few other improvements based on the buyer feedback on the original Rainstorm.

Yes. I pushed the “buy” button.

H 🙁 🙁 T

Can you show some pics as to where and how this adjustment is done?

A pic of the OEM and your replacement spring would help a lot as well.

Thanks!

Cripe….just when I was ready to settle down with a Theoben Eliminator in .25 caliber, I find out the Rainstorm II is $750 in .22 caliber and tosses .21gr pellets at over 900+ fps and an FPE of 40+.

Why? Why???? Just when you thought you was gettin’ out, they reel ya back in!!!! Da Da Da Duh Da Da Da Duh Da Da De Dummmmmm…..

30 shots in 25? Nice string, could probably eek out 40 or so in 22 with some work.

Unlike Rob I cant resist this one and I think this is what I have been looking for.

Not to hijack but considering what I would like to do the gun

See this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar5OxT-tb7s

How do you like your pekator setup Rob?

Anyways this gun should be here next month or two, and then probally off to will, and some fun stuff from pekator.

You suck benneeb0y… 😀

Great report. I have been looking fora stablemate for my BSA Lonestar number 2 looks like it would be a good one 😆 any update on shot count ? What scope you using?

Gary

Ok, now that I’ve gotten that out… 😆

Very nice… Looks like an ideal hunter there. Nice groups, I think. Must resist……

Damn you.

….damn you.

Good info,

Will can sell you a de-pinger & new better baffles for your gun.
He says his baffels will help out, a good bit with the sound.
Here is a link to his web site.

That gun looks good.

Keep us posted when you try out your new pellets.

Good luck. 😀

Update.

Sorry rod3dr!

Days was nice. Maybe 5 mph breezes but virtually no wind.

Not the best rest. 😆 I was shooting proposal position 😆

I’m not a big long distance shooter so these could be tightened up. Also these aren’t sorted and weighed.

Here’s one of the “range”. The red arrow is 50 yards and the yellow arrow is 80.

And for the best group of the day! After a sight in shot at 40 yards I managed this 6 group shot. Shooting prone position.

And I admit the pulled shot was the 5th. But I needed to put 5 through one raged hole, so it’s a 6 shot group 😆

She is a hunter. Light. Short.

What else.

Nice stock. Kinda hate I have to drill her to put on sling studs. But it is thin around the grip/butt intersection.

No jams or mishaps with JSB exacts 25.4grs and the magazines. It comes with two and I spent the $47 😯 for the third. One caveat is you need something to push the pellet in with unless you have a long ass fingernail or small finger. Or Hoot’s dick. 😆

Good post,
benneeb0y I’ve been looking at this gun also.

So it is not all that loud?
Keep us posted on the gun, I’ll be watching for your new findings.

I wonder if the mag, would feed predator pellets ok? 🙄

Not too loud. The full barrel shroud does not extend that far past the muzzle. I would think an inch or so and some better internals would be a nice boost. However they did vent the barrel bushings and the rear of the shroud so it’s deff loud shooting it. And there is helluva ping! Gotta get someone to shoot so I can hear from a distance 😆 But deff not loud. Not a game spooker. Not back yard friendly.

Preds are going to be my next selection in the gun and then Benji Dome’s!!!

Nice…. the Korean guns have always seemed to shoot hot to start with and a gradual downward spiral on velocity, but looks like you cured that up quite nicely.

I really dont need another airgun, but this has my attention…

looking forward to seeing how it groups. Hopefully, for my wallets sake, it will group like shit..haha
