Q:

Exploded look at regulators from differet suppliers

I have a 1500psi regulator from expert hpa and a 2400psi reg from JDS Airman.

The Expert HPA reg looks like this
)()()()()()(
and measures 14.80mm tall

The JDS Airman reg loos like this
)(())(())((())))
and measures 13.14mm tall

the JDA Airman spring and pin are also of a larger profile.

the Expert HPA shims are a far thicker cut and dark in colour where the JDS Airman shims are thinner and silver in colour.

My setup is as follows
UK Stealth
24″barrel
60g hybrid hammer
blodnob hammer

Pellet weight 21.4g

Expert HPA 1500psi reg – 730-733 fps
JDS Airman 2400psi reg – 936-930 fps

did some more testing today with the JDS Airman reg and the spread is huge.

I filled to 3000psi and started shooting until i fell off of the regulator.

1. 890 – id say the reg needs to settle down after the fill for this shot
2. 929 – id say the reg needs to settle down after the fill for this shot
3. 923 – id say the reg needs to settle down after the fill for this shot
4. 919 – id say the reg needs to settle down after the fill for this shot
5. 903 – from the look of the next shots id say the reg has settled down
6. 908 – shot 2
7. 887 – shot 3
8. 903 – shot 4
9. 898 – shot 5
10. 884 – shot 6
11. 908 – shot 7
12. 897 – shot 8
13. 883 – shot 9
14. 887 – shot 10
15. 904 – shot 11
16. 910 – shot 12
17. 908 – shot 13
18. 900 – shot 14
19. 874 – off of the reg
20. 848 – off of the reg
21. 793 – off of the reg

i don,t think the reg is worth the money with this type of shot count. maybe a heavier hammer will help but i don’t have one to test with.

The Spresd with the Expert HPA is far better but too slow for my liking.
