Fat Boy LDC

If you have seen the pics under my other thread, THREADING THE CONDOR, you know that I have been working on a double ldc condor, an inner, primary ldc with a large, “fat boy” ldc over the whole thing.

But it ain’t easy to make and I can’t really do it without charging ridiculous sums to folks who may want one.

Soooo…. been thinking of an alternative. Not much more work than a regular ldc, so cost would be only a little more; but offer advantages in quiet by being larger than the frame extension I have already done.

This can be done with threading the frame internally as I have already done (see pics on other thread), but it would probably be easier and more secure to thread the frame EXTERNALLY and just offer a bigger ldc. In this fashion, I could provide a small ‘thread protector’ that you could screw on the front of the frame when you don’t want the big fat boy on, and use a ‘normal’ slip on ldc (which I consider not optimal due to not being free floated). When you have a need for being quieter, or free floated, then just screw on the fat boy. Nice to have choices.

Anyway, just throwing this out there. I haven’t made one yet, have no idea if anyone even wants one of these. But if you’d like to see it happen, chime in here so that I can figure out if it should be done.
