Q:

Few ?’s bout Discovry’s and Shroud’s

Ok, o I have a Crosman Discovery, had it for a long time, tired of it being so loud an such and i want to shoot birds out of my window without disturing neighbors with the noise. So, I’d like to make a shroud for my disco, but i don’t know ho i should do it regarding dimensions and stuff.

Can the shroud taper own so i can slide it down 3 or so inches down my barrel? Does it need to be threaded, or can it be slipxslip, or cn i slide it on,tet fire it a bunch then solder it onto my barrel? What inside and outside diameter’s are common? How long should it be? What about the internals? Shouldit be a buchof those vented bushings like on the Condors and just vent the gases towards me or out the sdes or what?

I’m a total noob at this, but i have my own lil 7×14 mini lathe, lots of round stoc nd cutting bits, and i also have access to many more machines at the machine shop at my school.

haha, just a side note, im going to College of the Redwoods up in NorCali for an Associate’s in Science of Manufacturing Technology and ive made axles for my dirt bike andmy neighbors dirt bike, new front hub for mine, then i had it anodized chromatic blue and im making a laminated gunstock for my Disco. Anyhoo, thats all i have to say, can you guys help mewith my questions? Please and thank you =]

P.M. sent Kenny.

I haven’t bought the TKO Stage V yet, but I “might” shortly. I just bought a milling machine, the Sieg X1 from harbor freight for $350 with coupon.
So I’m most likely going to make a riser breech for the discovery and then order a full barrel shroud or make my own on the lathe.

SavageSam, yes, I live by Eureka, right across the bay on the northern peninsula actually. While I’m waiting for my mill to arrive, I’ll be making a trial run pistol grip out of plywood to see if I like it. If I do, then I’ll make a laminate of Cocobolo, Purple Heart, and Zebra wood, but not like a normal laminate of thin layers of wood. More like a chopping block with odd patterns in it. I’ll post up a thread sometime within the next 3 months since I’m pretty busy with class. We have to cut helical gears on the horizontal mill which sucks….things lol.

Hey Kenny, you up there by Eureka?

TKO’s on all my crosman’s except the 1377. If he made bigger ones to fit AF barrels and they were as effective I’d be putting in a large order.

quote tnfoutdoors1:

We added a TKO22 shroud to the discovery & after about 30 shots, the only thing you hear is the hammer slap & very little muzzle noise from the air. It is easy to install & worth the $40.

Which one did you install?

Have a look here http://www.tko22.com/

don’t know anything about the disco, but use this to start a search on
different ways to make a shroud….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zesohoN98Nk
also go back through the past posts here to find a design you can replicate.
Some one else can tell you the best way to fit one to a disco.
HTH….Matthew
Crap, the link won’t work. Just go to you tube and search “air rifle
silencer test.
