Fill tanks scub, CF, 44, 88 ,
For All the guys that have already gone thru this ,i’m trying to make up my mind if i should go with a scuba les cost, or cf more fills per. And also should i just get one of ready available cf 44 cu. ft. or will i not be satisfied with the small tank and wish i had gotten the 88 cu. ft.
I have found scub for less $ , i have found fiil locations for scuba and cf tanks to 4500psi. So i can go with either .
So to the guys with scuba , do you wish you had carbon fiber and higher presure. or is it not a big deal. What should i do.

cascading 2 44s will give u more fills than 1 88 and you will use more volume of air in the tanks by filling with one tank and then using the other tank to top off

Ah yes, the magic of cascading… While you will want to use all the air you have as efficiently as possible… one 88 will be more efficient than 2 44s. There’s no magic but you might find a deal or two on 44s so I wouldn’t rule them out as an option.
You could also buy 1 44 CF now and get another later and cascade them.
If you’re going to do a lot of shooting there’s only one choice or re-choice! Get the big CF tank and spend less in the long run. Worrying about air is not good for your health or fun. 😆
I’m fortunate to not have to ask permission so I now have a 4500psi compressor and 2 big CF tanks and a small tank that can hang off a belt. It is nice to have plenty of air and just shoot instead of “conserve” all the time.

I use a 44 CF SCBA and am fortunate enough to have a local paintball place fill it for me.
They charge me the all day air rate of 10 bucks to fill it from empty and 5 to top it off from 3K to 4.5K
The 44 is enough to last a good range sesion. After a few weeks of using it I could already see the writing on the wall so I bought a 88 CF tank to go along with it.
If you can swing it, get the 88 CF tank.
Both places that i have to fill are very close, so you think that i would still want the 4500 psi even if i got the scuba set up . Think i should get the big 88 tank or get one of the good deals on one of the 44 cf tanks.
It seems that most are charging to 2700 or so and not going to 3000 any way. Have only shot about 40times so far.
If you can swing the SCBA setup def. go that route. Once you spend that initial lump of money you won’t have to worry about it for a long time. I get more than twice the amount of fills with my SCBA vs. what I would with a SCUBA and with as far away across town as my fill location is the extra cost was offset in my case by fuel, time, & hassle.

No, 2 44s will not give more fills than 1 88 nor will 4 22s give more fills than 2 44s and 8 11s will not give more fills than 4 22s….
Its a nice bit of mythology to pretend that a given volume of air can go further if split just so and used just so but it is all BS. A given volume of compressed air is the same no matter how many ways you split it. Unless you can make more omlets with two 6 packs of eggs than with a dozen….
The idea is that you use one tank to “bulk fill” up to the pressure in the tank and then use the other tank to “top off” to lets say 3000 psi. Supposedly, the first tank lasts longer as you fill to a lower pressure and the second lasts much longer as you’re using just a bit of air out of it. The truth is that a single tank (twice the volume) will go down in pressure half as fast as either of the smaller tanks. The two small tanks will both be below the pressure you want to fill to just as fast as the single tank. In fact, since you have to disconnect the fill hose twice as often, you will waste more air with the two tanks than with one. There’s no free lunch.
I’m sure there are a bunch of folks wedded to the idea of multiple tanks and they will hate my pointing this out but sooner or later you’ll have to do the math and wonder why you are taking twice as many steps to fill your gun and still going to the shop to get your tanks filled just as often as the guy with one big tank!
Now, if you get 88 1 cubic foot tanks, they will last forever… 😆 😆 😆
