Damn you guys are fast, I thought my post was the first reply lol

When you opened the tank valve to let air in, and it stopped, did you open the tank valve even more to see if it would fill? If you have 2000 psi in the guns tank, the gauge needle will stop there, because the pressure has equalized. Turning the Scuba tank valve more and it should fill. Either that, or you don’t have 3000psi in Scuba tank, faulty guage or valve. Not sure what else it could be. Maybe someone else can help…

What is teh size of SCUBA tank you are filling from?

You cannot get a full 3,000psi out of a 3,000psi source but as the fellas say you might have got a hot fill from the shop at 3,000 and then it cools to some number below that say 2600psi. You then fill your guns tank from zero and get somewhat less than the starting pressure.

A pump is handy for topping up for sure 🙂

Walter….

If it doesn’t go higher with the tank valve opend a bit more, I suspect a defective gauge or that you really only got 2000 pai from the shop.

If you have a chrono, shoot a string. If it goes down in MV with every shot, chances are you only have 2000 psi. Otherwise, take the tank back to the shop, they’ll have a gauge to test the fill. Contact AF, there have been a bunch of gauge failures I bet they just mail you a replacement.

Good luck.

The quick and dirty answer is that you didn’t get a true 3000 psi fill on your scuba tank.

Or one of the gauges is on the fritz.

Do you have a hand pump? If so, I’d screw the AF tank on there, pump a few times, and see what that gauge tells you.
