Filling guns from a tank.
Been looking at some tanks online, here’s an example..
If I get one of these what other parts do I need? I have the Benjamin rifles so it’d need to be able to connect to them.
Haven’t got a clue really.. getting tired of the hand pump!
Ach so.. What stores / places would be able to fill these up?
Some help would be appreciated!

I live out in the sticks and bought a Shoebox compressor. It is #0033 so it is one of the early ones in the first run. I have used it to fill both my Talon SS rifles, my Marauder, my Ninja HPA tanks and now I’ve started filling my AirHog Piglet tank. The Piglet is a 4500 psi, 17 cu ft tank and took me four hours to fill it from zero. Not too bad and beats the heck out of a hand pump.
Considering that the pump has only been on the market a short time there are really only a few reported problems. Everyone I have talked with is quite happy with their purchase and the freedom it gives you is great.
The compressor is great, works great and is easy to use. I’ve had no problems with mine and use it three or four times a week. If you are looking to get away from hand pumping and do not have a fill shop close, get one. You won’t be disappointed.

shoebox compressor is good for someone live outside the city or far away from the fill station.
2 thing I don’t like about the shoebox compressor.
1. Take to freaking long to fill big tank like the 88 cu.
2. I have seen other owners had too many problems with it.
If you have time to deal with issues, then it worth to try.
There’s some good advice Matt. You should look into a shoebox compressor. It sounds like they are doing well for people.
Yes you want SCBA(4350psi) not SCUBA(3000psi) BIG difference in the amount of fills you will get. Did I say BIG? I mean MASSIVE!!
To the Original Poster…DO NOT even consider tanks measured in “cubic inches” !!!!!!! WASTING YOUR MONEY…you want one that holds CUBIC FEET of air (lots and lots of air)..The little ci jobs are good for like taking out on a field trip, but that’s about it—I noticed you said you were tired of the hand pump, so I’m assuming you don’t have any tank (s) @ this point…Get yourself the set-up first= ie/66-88 cu ft tank (SCBA not SCUBA) if you go out on hunting trips and need a bottle small enough to back-pack on hunting trips, you can always get that stuff later..Couple of guys have posted the link to Joe’s website…I highly recommend him…got my SCBA set-up from him, and it’s the greatest !! Super nice/helpful guy too, so it’s all good 😀
re: Hydro… try paintball shops… they may be able to give you a list of people you can send your tank to.

Did you ever find a place locally in MA to get your tank hydro-tested? I bought a tank off ebay and it’s turning out more difficult to find someone that I would have thought. Two Dogs pointed me to list of DOT approved locations but all that I’ve contacted so far mostly deal with fire extinquishers.
I’m in Danvers. If there’s somewhere close I could bring it instead of shipping it I’d do it.
Or did you decide to skip the hydro because you’re getting the shoebox?

Going to get the Shoebox compressor in 3000 PSI.
Have to wait till his next run happens. It’s $395 + ship for the 3k version so price is not a problem.
Get that + the Benjamin air tank for my Katana and DIsco.

Don’t go with any smaller than 88 cu, I have the 88 cu now, but it’s still small for me 😆 .
Before you shop for a Scuba fiber tank, first you will need to check around your area to see if anyone close by can help you to fill it up, some paintball shops can fill it too.
Contact Joe to get you a used tank and fittings, I just got a set micro hose fitting from him 2 week ago, I loved it, very high quality fitting and very little waste of air compared to my other set I got from airhog.

I bring them cookies and donuts. When I call and say I’ll be stopping by, the young guys are always front and center to give me a hand.
I have 2 SCBA 4500 psi tanks. The city and rural fire departments don’t mind filling them. Before I bought my first PCP, I talked to the city’s cheif. I told him that I was thinking about getting a PCP and would need a way to get my tank filled. He said to bring it up, it is good public relations.
That being said, I still feel like a bum when I ask for a fill.
If you get a used SCBA tank, any fire department will be able to fill it. The Pure Energy 88 CI tank will only give you a couple of fills and will need an adaptor before it will hook up to a fire house compressor.
You will get many times more fills from a 44 or 66 CF SCBA tank.
Joe at http://www.hamcontact.com/airgun/HoseAssembly/ Will be able to get you set up on a hose and fittings. He also has 44 CF tanks, that are good till 2018 and will have a current hydro, for $299. I just got a 66 CF, off of ebay for $125 shipped. It has 5 years left on it. A hydro test cost me around $40.00.
If you buy a used SCBA tank, be sure to check the manufacture date. A 4500 psi SCBA tank must be thrown away after it is 15 years old.
I have a shoebox compressor on order. It needs another compressor to feed it 90 psi. I have a 60 gallon tank, 220 volt , 5hp shop air compressor that won’t work for suppling air. You have to feed the shoebox air from an oilless air compressor. Harbor freight has an oilless pancake compressor for $59.00.
Hi Matt, how’s it going? SCUBA dive shops are the first and most obvious places to get a tank filled. You need to be certain that they can and will fill to 4500psi. Some guys are getting them filled by their local fire departments, but that’s a hit and miss thing in this day of law suits. There are some industrial gas suppliers that have nitrogen in cylinders that you rent. Nitrogen, NOT oxygen…don’t confuse them! Compressed oxygen is very dangerous in our rifles. Maybe some of the other guys will have another suggestion for you. Good luck!
The new shoebox compressor combined with a shop air compressor is a new and possibly viable alternative.
