Q:

Finally got a group that didn’t embarass my Edgun!

Howzit Gang,

On Wednesday, my friend brought over his new Edgun to zero. Typical Edgun—– shooting spot on, 20/30/40 pretty much one ragged hole. Nothing new so we pushed the target back and started shooting at 50. If you look at the hen, he put 10 shots into it. He sucks! lol——so I moved the target back and lazered 62 yards (the farthest I can shoot behind the house) I took ten shots at the left top circle and was shocked at the results 😯 Latter, I followed up with the bottom circle with six shots. I chickend out on the last four 🙁 Latter the wind picked up and my groups started to string.

I learned that these old eyes can’t stay on the target very long. I remember having a discussion with my optometrist about this and she suggested that my eyes were drying out (not blinking) and I should keep a bottle of eyedrops with me. Might have to take her advice and give it a try.

All in all, it was a great afternoon, got a decent group and got to hang out with a new shooting buddy 😀

Aloha,

Mark

EdGun

Mark, I have “settled” on 905fps as the best for my gun. The accuracy at this speed is 99% as good as when it’s shooting blazing fast. But, I get twice as many consistent shots at 905. From 200-125 bar, I get 55-60 shots with an extreme spread of 10 fps (900-910). THAT is a good hunting rig!

Thanks Pabs—–sometimes I surprise myself. Must be a full moon or something 😆

Thanks Ted

Yah, gonna keep this target tucked away so when I suck at shooting, it will remind me what this gun is capable of. 😀

I was shooting JSB 18.1 off of that plastic shooting rest that Cabela’s sells similar to yours. The only difference is that I held the stock off the back rest “a little” to adjust for horizontal alignment and used a towel tucked between the rest and stock.

Pellets were only “eyeballed” to make sure that the skirts weren’t deformed. I’d like to eventually weigh and sort pellets but right now I’m trying to work on my form and get more consistant groups. Also weighing and sorting would take away one more excuse for my bad shooting 😆

I ran some shots through the crono and was running 907 average. Are you still playing in the 950 range? My friend was shooting in the low 880 range and was very, very consistant.

Thanks guys

For awhile I thought something was wrong with my Edgun when shooting 50 plus yards. I would normally end up with a pattern instead of a group 😯 Should have known—— first on the check list, make sure the nut behind the trigger isn’t the problem 😆

Thanks Tedd, I’ll try some crosses and see how I do. I usually take a sharpie and just make dots all over the place and hope/pray I hit them. My thinking is that if you have enough dots all over the place, a pellet is bound to hit one of them 😆

Thanks Jeff, I gotta agree that the Edgun is the real deal. I forgot who said it but gotta agree with the quote “only accurate guns are interesting” I don’t think that I’ll ever be able to shoot to it’s full potential “BUT” I keep trying. 😀 AND I truly believe if I can’t do something good, at least I look good 😆

Well, alright Mark!

That bottom left group is the stuff dreams are made of.

You shooting 18.1’s or 15.9’s……or predators? 🙂

What speed? Normal or lubed pellets? How were you rested?

I shouldn’t have to be asking these damn questions. 😆

Nice groups dude. 😎

Someday I might actually be allowed to play again.
😥 😆

Great groups Mark… I tell ya, these EDguns are the real deal… They make a
guy look like he really knows what he is doing…lol
I have the same problem with dry eyes Mark… At times I flush my eyes out
with hot/warm water for a few minutes and it opens up the tear ducts
again… Getting old just doesn’t seem to be getting easier…..lol

Nice group Mark. I find that I shoot better groups if I shoot at a cross. It gives me something to line the cross hairs up on. If I aim at a circle, I am all over the place.
