Q:

Finally got the stock drop correct

Since I got the Talon, I have been trying to get the drop of the stock to match my head. For whatever reason, I am built for the stock drop of a Winchester 1873, so straight stocks drive me crazy. I looked at the one that drops the stock, but could not handle the increased LOP. I finally put the Trimount rail on it. Now the CENTERPOINT scope with high rings, easily line uo with my eye.

Then I set out to sight the rig at 10 yards. Quite a challenge, I would say, took quite a shim. I may have to look into adjustable rings. But now at least with the laser, I am sighted in at 10 yards.

I should have paid attention in geometry.

After looking at Chairgun, I was wondering about your caliber, velocity and pellet.

Using a bore laser, the Sun Optic rings appear to do the job. Now to get to the range, to check it out. The rings were pretty simple to set up.

Wow, 150 yards, quite a challenge, it seems like shooting a mortar. I used to shoot a carbine in .45 LC at 200 yards. Midrange was 16 inches high.

Good luck!

I ordered a set of FX “no limits” rings for zeroing at 150 plus yards. I bought a BkL mount, when I got here it looked like it had be already used and it won’t elevate. Hope these FX rings work for me.

I didn’t realize you were setting it up for short range target shooting. Sounds like a great plan Ray!

Now I have ordered a set of Sun Optic adjustable rings, in hopes of eliminating the shims. The reason for the 10 yard zero, is that I want to use it for shooting silhouettes at our club. Targets range 9-18 yards. I plan on running the Talon on CO2.

If it doesn’t work out, I still have a great rifle to shoot at longer range.

The rail on these Air Force guns sits very high. It can be a real challenge to get sighted in at such a short distance as 10 yards.
That seems awful close for a zero. Tony at Talon Tunes makes a drop down tank adapter that lowers the tank ( buttstock) quite a bit. You may want to check into that if you’re having trouble shouldering the gun.
