Firing up of an Alpha3.5G. The Bad & Good. Anyone need Air?

Finally got a chance to fire up the Alpha3.5G 4500 PSI Gasoline Powered Compressor. Business has been OFF THE HOOK CRAZY (not complaining though), and I didn’t get a chance to fire it up until yesteday. I spent the whole day on an off trying to start the Honda motor. Pull-no-start, Pull-no-start, Pull-no-start (and not starting) was NOT fun, and a bit frustrating. The Honda is a high quality motor, so I knew it would start, I just needed to know what was wrong. Well I had to go back to my Willlys Gear-Head days and think a bit. I recalled seeing a LOT of oil in the shipping carton, and had the common sense to top-off the oil in the motor as well as the compressor. I figured the compressor somehow was shipped on its side at some point, and crankcase oil got up into the combustion chamber thoroughly fouling the plug. So I went and bought a new spark plug, and checked for spark (and it worked). It started right up but ran very rough. I thought maybe a lot of oil had to burn off, but it didn’t run well after 5 minutes. I then thought to take off the air cleaner, and voila, it ran like a top!!! It seems when the it tipped, that oil flowed into the combustion chamber, then made its way into the carb and out the air filter. The air filter was so loaded with oil that it was choking the airflow causing it to run rough. The compressor now runs like a champ. It was closing time by then so I couldn’t adequately time a tank fill. I will fill up another tank today and time it.
Anybody in SoCal need a free fill of 4500 PSI Air?
