First 200 psi in a New Condor SS .25 Questions

Hello All,

I recently purchased a Condor SS .25 and conducted some chronograph testing this weekend. Looking over my data, the first 200 psi lags behind the rest of the tank. No matter where the power wheel is set, the chronograph results always show a low power group or groups right after I hand pump to 3000 psi.

After about 2800 psi to 2400 psi, the deviations are low and the groups speed up. After 2400 psi, the deviations start to widen and speeds slow down. Not to mention it’s a serious workout to go from 1800 psi to 3000 psi with a hand pump! I did that about 11 times today. Carbon Fiber refill tank should be delivered Monday so less hand pumping in the future.

Is there way to flatten out the shooting behavior of my Condor SS? This is my first PCP gun so any advice will be greatly appreciated!

I purchased a very nice Caldwell chronograph for about $125. It came with all the needed cables, rods, shrouds and tripod. There’s a decent app available for android and apple. My apple phone worked once I gave it permission to use my microphone. The app lets you email the chronograph data, very handy.

I was very surprised how useful the data is, pays off for all that damn hand pumping!

I should get my new stock this week, I will post some pics once I get it all together.

I still do not have a chronograph so I have no clue on my speed. But it seems to me the trigger smoothed out some after 1000 plus shots.

Thanks for the reply – that seems to be the best way to go. What I do not understand is looking over my chronograph logs, I was getting 1000 fps at 2.1 on the power wheel when my tank hit about 2600, really surprised me but I’ve duplicated it. I expected around 800 to 900 fps because my previous four or five sets were in that range or lower. The fifth or sixth set, the fps jumps up to 1000 fps and my spread deviation goes down to about 4.5 or 6 and I received a couple of duplicates at that psi spot. After that sweet spot, it goes back to it’s previous 800 to 900 fps.

The next time I go to the range I will have my air tank, more time testing less time pumping! Did your weapon improve or break in after a thousand rounds or so? I’ve shot about 500 rounds through my gun so far and I’m already eye-balling the 24 inch barrel, full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes!

I would fill to just 2800 psi if that is were you get the best power. My Talon SS I only fill to about 2600 to 2800 PSI anything more I have less power till I get to about 27ish anyway on the tank. And :tag:
