First part to see the new lathe
This is an aluminum adapter to fit my fat shroud. I have a 24″ barrel on the way, and am going to experiment to see if short and fat works 😀 Take into consideration that this is my first time ever using a metal lathe, and I don’t think the cutting tool was set at the correct rake angle. It also hasn’t been bored out yet because i don’t have those tools yet.

OK, if you wanted the rake specs, I just looked it up quick and dirty; for carbon steels, side rake is 12 deg, front rake is 8 deg, and back rake is 16.5 deg. The “back” rake is the one that tilts upward from the horizontal.
