first shots with new condor
my condor arrived the other day but didnt get a chance to play with it at all till yesterday.
pumped it to 3000psi with the hand pump….that was a work out lol
finally figured out how to adjust the tophat. I dont have any precise tools to measure the distance so i started at 1/16″ (eye balled it with a ruler) and unscrewed it a bit every few shots. i set the pw on 5.
i drove out into the country till i found a good place to shoot. took about 43 shots before calling it a day. unless otherwise noted i was shooting extra heavy .22 kodiaks. also a few 32 grain sam yangs and 26.2 grain jsb predator big boys. this is what it was shooting:

how does that look? i really have no idea what i am doing at this point but just playing with it and trying to get a feel for the condor. i think i really need something better than a ruler so i dont have to eyeball the tophat distance. any suggestions?

Try it at a 2400 or 2500 psi fill.
Or shoot a string and when it starts getting to to good numbers, remove the bottle, and put her on the pump. This should give you a reading as to where she currently is. Now you know where to stop pumping! 😀

i have a shooting chrony, i think it was right around $100. works great.
what is a reasonably priced cronograph? I want to get testing as soon as my condor arrives!

I checked mine with a ruler and 3/32 is around .080. I would not go the full 3000, I seem to get a real slow one or two at full tank pressure. It looks like powerwheel 8 to 9 is a good spot to work with.
I would advise some full strings between adjustments…
It is hard to tell what is making the difference when you
are resetting so many thing so fast….Take one setting at
a time. That way you will start to understand more so
which settings do what….

Pellet
You’re looking for accuracy, with a good pellet speed,
and with a good shot count per fill. 30-50 shots.
The higher the power the lower the shot count….You’ll
have to find a compromise you are happy with…
Yeah a 100.00 chrony will be your best friend with a decent set of feeler gauges. 😀
Try adjusting the tophat to around .071 to start fill pressure around 2800 psi and powerwheel around 6 to 8.
Should be pushing EJ’s to around 940 to 980 anything over 980 fps the accuracy will start to suffer.

well if you have a crony you realy dont need a better mesurment in th adjustment you are looking for results of best performance and higher shot count , i sugest refill yor tank and try again with that final setting and see if velocity start as high as the end results and try to keepit under 1000 fps you get good acuracy at that speed

I have got my Condor set up to shoot well at 2500 psi in order to get lots of fills from my scuba tank. Shoots around 30 to 35 high powered shots with 31 grain .25 pellets over 900 fps.
