First try at pics
OK, been reading this forum for quite a while, got a Condor in Feb and just got done jumping thru all the hoops to join Photobucket. Spent most of the day cleaning the barrel and shooting. When I got the Condor (Talon tank and valve that I later modified according to the directions here) it shot all over the place. You guys here helped me a lot! I am going to try to load 2 pics of what it shot today. Here we go. [im

Anyhow, the first pic, shot from a rest, was 2900psi to 2300, tophat .085 pw 8-1, 5 shot for each crosshair. All shots were using Kodiak 22 cal pellets. I have a Combro chrony, it gives the fps, fpe and pellet weight for each shot.

Now for the questions. The Condor is bolted down solidly to the rest that I made. The rest does not move between shots. Any ideas why it will put 4 shots in 1 hole and then shoot a flier? Why the 5 shots in one hole, the next 5 shots opened up and then back to a tight group?
Going to try to submit this now, if it doesn’t work, I am too tired and drunk to give a fcuk.

that is some damn good grouping on the bottom pic.
dont claim to know enough about these valves to give a good answer but they doo like being at the right pressure so maybe you just found it…
Forgot to say that all groups were shot from 35 yards.

Youve got some really nice groups there, hard to tell if anything at all is really wrong. Your second target has 30 shots in an area that could be covered by a nickle. I would be elated with that. Your POI is really only dropping because your velocity is dropping. Horizontally your right on the money.
I would say your “fliers” are just from pellet inconsistency. A small variation in skirt diameter, skirt bent off axis center, ect… They are soft lead afterall.
Some guys weigh their pellets, and that helps a little.
Another trick for sorting that Ive seen. Lay a pellet on a FLAT surface next to a straight edge, mark the spot first, then tilt the surface gently to get the pellet to roll.
Once the pellet finishes a 90° arc, mark that spot.
Get a bunch of pellets that roll to the same spot and see if your fliers go away.
This method will tell you immediately if a pellet is out of round, youll be able to see it wobble when it rolls.
BTW a carpenters square works really well for this. The bitch is finding that flat surface thats not too slippery so the pellets dont slide.
Kodiaks are popular, but almost everybody has the same results you do.
