Q:

First wildcat problems

The sidelever linkage pin is pressed in and may fall out:

I understand such approach cuts costs but imagine what happens when you push the pin put for servicing the gun, will it stay in place after you push it back? I thought FX made properly designed guns but it seems they are cutting corners for lower assembly costs now.

218bee have you ever known any item from Europe to cost less than something from Russia? They cut corners to get the cost down. It’s not like Sweden is the place known for bargains. It is just simple economics. AoA and FX were worried about Kalibrgun so they tried make a cheap copy. Only a sucker would buy an FX airgun. As I see it you have two choices, get ripped off or get a cheapened version.

Sweden and bargains ? Nothing can be made cheap here. On the other hand whatever is made on this side of the Pond (read : Scandinavia, Germany, Austria and many things in UK too) is usually of very high quality. FX may cut corners for both WC & Impact which are actually designed for US market (the FX Impotent in particular) and that puzzles me. Not a good marketing strategy IMO.

$1300 just isn’t what it used to be I guess. 😯 Back to the Red Ryder days.

It seems that those problems reported are not isolated cases but common ones:

It’s still funny how people pay that much money for an airgun and think it’s OK if they need to fix pins and indexing arms

maybe stake the pin on top & bottom with a spring-loaded punch? Providing the tolerances are semi-tight to begin with. Have used them with good luck in the past..

Three different problems detected right after the gun reaches buyers, that’s rather poor show from FX. Will we see a Wildcat Mk2 shortly? This doesn’t exactly build confidence for the Impact being trouble free on release. A spring being held in place by a grub screw is not a good design. Linkage pin falling out is a sign of bad design. Magazine indexing with a long lever, we all know what happens when things wear out. I hope they get things sorted out properly, Wildcat is not a bad concept after all and reasonably priced as well.

Just watched the eww tube video of the jammered up putty cat…….. It appears the hand/pawl and magazine is similar to the hatsan/hammerila pneuma…… Very state of the art for a high end pcp

id be pissed if i missed a critter and i went for a follow up shot only to shoot the magazine out upon cycling…..

A bunch of complaints on the other forums………. Let’s see how it gets handled

Don’t worry. The new Wildcats come with a huge hammer. :horse: Reminds me of the original P12s. Randy is probably the best part of that purchase.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKok95wyvm0 some one else is having problems also.

More problems in the same thread, sear jamming and not engaging. Too bad, I had high hopes for this gun and now it seems FXs have quality/design problems. Looks like Vulcan is THE front loader bullpup at the moment.

looks like someone over there posted that theres isn’t cycling properly and its jamming…..

Am I stating the obvious or is that a dumbass design by FX? Put a sleeve or bushing in there with a grub screw thru it to hold it in place. If they wanted it butter smooth, use a ball-bearing sleeve.
